The Parker Gun at the Georgia State Trap Shoot
1 Attachment(s)
An abbreviated Georgia State Trap Shoot took place this past weekend at South River Gun Club in Covington, Ga. Although a smaller crowed than normal, it was still well attended. And the Parker Guns represented themselves well.
Singles championship was contested on Saturday and a strong, swirling wind accounted for lower than usual scores. Parker SB, affectionately known as Boo, won the Ga. State Sub Vet category with a 190x200. |

Doubles championship started at 9 am on Sunday morning and the wind had calmed down.
Parker GHE, known as Jennie, took the Ga. State D class Doubles championship with an 86x100. |

Handicap followed Doubles in the afternoon and the heat and humidity were the biggest challenges.
Parker SA, who goes by LJ, won the State Sub Vet Handicap title with 95x100. |

The three sisters combined took home the Ga State Sub Vet High All Around award. Needless to say they were the only Parkers, or vintage guns for that matter, on the grounds. And once again someone asked me if the SA was of German make.

Congratulations.

Well done Champ!
Dean, yes all three are mine. Or perhaps I should say I belong to the three of them.
John,
Well done sir! I am proud to know such a Grand Champion Shooter! All the best, Buddy |
One day they will end up in Randy's (the other Mr. Davis) collection so keep them in plexiglass for him.:)
Great news! Well done!
John, that sure is fine shooting!! Congrats!
Look at ya go!

I think John Davis may be the youngest trap gun collector in the USA, or maybe not. When the rest of us are gone, he will have to take care of all these antiques. Tom Breeden and I had an informal meeting about wills and trap guns a few months ago at his gun club, discussing whether my trap and pigeon guns would be thrown on the market in the future. I asked him about his extensive collection. His son and grandson were present for this meeting and made it clear that his guns were not up for negotiation. They asked if my will was written. They are both active shooters and collectors. OH WELL.

Great shooting my friend!
Harry has taken a liking to trap. Guess my next Parker should be a SBT
Congratulations John that’s some pretty fine shooting.
Congratulations and way to go !
Congratulations John. I hope the people at Trap and Field took notice of you shooting your Parker's. It would make an interesting article.
Congratulations John!! All your hard work the past couple of years has delivered hard earned rewards.
Way to go John!
John, I wish I could have been there. Congratulations.
Way to go, John. Good shooting!
Good job John. Do you ever come to River Bend in North Georgia? I live near there and I would come just to watch.
Gerald, Cherokee Gun Club in Gainesville is the most northern club in Georgia that holds ATA shoots.
Thanks, John
Something to be proud of! That had to smart for some of your competitors having their hats handed to them multiple times. The Parker Gun remarkable into the future. Congratulations great shooting.
Mr Davis:
I'm in Auburn, if you are ok with it, can you let me and any other members who live close to come out and be your own personal rooting section. |
John, maybe you could recruit a whole squad of Parker trap gun shooters for several events at one of your favorite shoots. We could spend a weekend shooting, eating, and maybe bunking up, at a good shoot in your area. Just a thought.
Great shooting! You aren't too far away from me either
