LAST CALL
3RD ANNUAL
HOOSIER SxS CLASSIC SxS SHOOT 08/22/2020 TRI COUNTY COON HUNTERS SPORTING CLAYS HIGHWAY 129, BATESVILLE, IN SHOTGUN START AT 10:00AM -- LUNCH INCLUDED COST FOR 100 BIRDS AND LUNCH --- $50.00 Good Morning All: Hard to believe but we are one week away. The weather for the week in general looks good so hopefully it will hold out for Saturday. As of now we have a good number of shooters that have signed up. While we have lost several this year due to a variety of reasons including COVID there have been several new shooters come on board. When I say lost I mean to the event, they are still with us. As it stands now I believe we are at 47 shooters. Some of the regulars that have attended in the past have not signed up as of yet so if you plan on attending please do RSVP. As is customary we will have a shotgun start at 10:00AM with lunch afterwards and several door prizes. I know some of you folks have some fabulous double guns, please do consider bringing them for others to enjoy. There will be room on the tables. See you all next Saturday !! DRIVING DIRECTIONS--Please pay special attention to this if you are coming from out of town. You "cannot" google this facility to get there. If you do you will end up at their trap & skeet fields near the town of Batesville about 5 miles from the sporting clays course. The shoot facility has no physical address but is easy to get to as follows: For those of you coming in on I-74 which lies just N of Batesville you will exit 74 at the Batesville exit 149. Turn S on IN 229 . You will travel about .1 miles to a left turn (East) on to SR 46. Go about 1.5 miles to a right turn (South) on SR 129. You will travel 5 miles to the facility on your right. For those of you coming in from the South there are many options but you all are going to end up on SR 129 at some point. I would suggest that you look at a map and you will see the junction of SR 129 and SR 350 which is about 10 miles S of Batesville. The facility is 4.9 miles N of the junction and will be on your left heading N towards Batesville. There is a white sign out by the road that will be hard to miss. If anyone has any questions over the directions feel free to call (812-581-1021) or email and I will help out. Thanks and see you all soon ! |
Mission Accomplished

With the weather gal threatening, correction make that promising rain all week long for this past Saturdays event my optimism was not real high. Having said that the morning dawned a little cloudy allowing the sun to break through early morning and then the sunshine hardly if ever left us. There were a total of 44 shooters in attendance which was down slightly from last year. By my count I lost 11 shooters to COVID and 2 to poor planning on their end. Hopefully we can get them all back next year and then some more. The PGCA was represented by 5 members.
We got things started with a shotgun start at 10:00AM. The course consisted of 12 stations (100 birds) and could be characterized as an almost perfect SxS course IMO. No really long shots, the trickery was in the pairs and the angles. Shooting concluded around the noon hour where we then enjoyed a fine lunch of pulled pork, potato salad, baked beans and homemade cookies from Catherine Smith who is the wife of member Brian Smith. God bless her as she has helped every year with the serving of food and cleaning up. After lunch we took some time to look over the display guns that were dominated by Ole Reliable and then we drew for a nice selection of door prizes including rounds of sporting clays donated by Member Bobby Rowe of the Elk Creek Hunt Club, rounds of sporting at Tri County Coon Hunters (TCCH)donated by TCCH and The Hoosier SxS Classic, Bourbon from J&J Liquors and last but not least a variety of gift certificates and other items donated by Morris Baker of RST Classic Shotshells. A special thank you to all of the folks that donated door prizes. Following is a few pics from the event. Let me caution you they are not good pics. You see I asked my brother to come out and snap a few pics of the event for me. Upon arrival I gave him a few instructions as to what I was after and how to use a basic point and shoot camera. I'm going to work with him a little before next years event. Should he fail to show progress he will be dismissed which would make both of us happy most certainly. :) |
Those display guns are awesome!! Well done!

Great job Randy and all the participants. You didn’t tell me Elmer T Lee was going to be there or I would have come. I’m going to see about changing my Florida schedule next year do I can attend.
|
Actually Elmer T. did not get opened but his pal George T did not survive the evening.
|
I’m surprised you didn’t put Pappy out for bait ... again!
|
it was the best situation that I could possibly be in. A buddy of mine whom I turned into somewhat of a bourbon collector a few years ago showed up with the George T Stagg and Elmer T. Win-win for everyone, mostly me :)
