Hausmann's

Ernie's website still indicates that his facility is closed. Does anyone know if this is closure is still in effect?

Rick Losey 05-09-2020 01:44 PM

i bet it is - I read today rural PA counties are just beginning to revolt and threatening to reopen in spite of the Governor's edicts

Brian Dudley 05-09-2020 05:25 PM

Many counties’ local officials/law enforcement have said they will not cite businesses that decide to open on their own.
Many are getting to that point where they are simply sick of it.

I believe that Hausmanns was always just a “by invitation only” venue anyway. Not open to the public.

Daryl Corona 05-09-2020 05:38 PM

Rock Mountain in nearby Springville PA. is open. Hausmann's is a nice place to shoot but Mike Koneski at Rock Mountain has a great course to suit anyones skill level. If you can't have fun at the Rock you ain't trying.:bigbye:

Austin J Hawthorne Jr. 05-09-2020 06:48 PM

I have not been there for anything other than his organized shoots, however, the website says " 7 days a week By Reservation Only ". Am I misunderstanding that wording to mean Invitation Only ?

I can’t wait to get to Rock Mountain for the July/Aug shoot and to Hausmann’s for the Vintage Cup in September. With any luck, I’ll also make the Fall Southern in SC. We all need to get out and the fine people who own and run these facilities can sure use our support. Until then, our local clays course in NOVA opened yesterday and the fantastic M&M in Pennsville, NJ opens on the 15th.

Dunno about July August kinda doubtful for me . As to the Vintage Cup hopefully I’m able to leave the country two days before that one starts . As to the Fall Southern if I’m able to go to the Philippines and able to return I should be landing in Dullus early the morning of the day it begins . And once I’m home my crossbow needs to make up for time missed

Sick AND tired of it. Sick and tired of seeing the face masks, the plexiglass shields, the 6’ spacers, the signs saying wash your hands and the politically correct politicians telling me what I can and can’t do. Around here myself and 99% of the people I talk to don’t have or know anyone who has the virus. Hospitals are laying off staff because so few are using their facilities. I know there are areas where it seems everything is going to hell in a hand basket but most of the country isn't in that situation. I’ve decided to reopen on a limited basis for those who can think for themselves and aren’t terrified by news media reports. I’m not willing to sit by and let 40 years of work go down the drain because some politician or official thinks it’s too risky for their career. If they arrest me so be it. I’ll start a Go Fund Me account for my bail and attorney fees.

Mike Koneski 05-10-2020 11:55 AM

I'm with you Mike. If I typed my thoughts on this whole mess here I may get put in PGCA jail. Kind of like FB jail, only worse!! :cuss:

Mike Franzen 05-10-2020 12:02 PM

I hear ya brother. I’ve worked harder the past two months than I ever did in the past 40 years. We literally had to reinvent how we do our business. When this situation comes around next time I just going to refuse to participate.

Mike Koneski 05-10-2020 12:10 PM

BINGO!!!! Those who are easily compromised should stay home. The rest of us should move freely about the country. Small businesses can't afford unfunded shut-down mandates. We are ALL "essential".

Jim DiSpagno 05-10-2020 12:20 PM

For those of you that live in a relatively less populated area, you really have no idea how deadly this virus is. We’ve lost five good friends who were relatively healthy in the last 6 weeks. It’s like 9/11 in the NYC area. You had to be there to really get a grasp of what happened. We lost 20 friends and close neighbors that day and our daughter still suffers from PTSD from being there. A little inconvenience now is no buggy. Talk isolation then think about what our POWs endured and be thankful. JMHO

Joe Graziano 05-10-2020 12:56 PM

Amen, Mike! Well said. I’m getting the hell out of NOVA very soon. First, taking my family to Florida to enjoy the beach, restaurants, some normalcy. Then, moving out of the miserable northeast this summer.

Mike Koneski 05-10-2020 04:43 PM

Jim, sorry you lost some friends. That's a terrible thing. The higher numbers of death in urban centers is no reason to lock down the rest of the nation. NYC, LA, Philly, etc are like living in a sardine can. Anything can spread quickly there. The seasonal flu has a higher mortality rate than the Wuhan. 99.5+% recovery rate from everything we've seen including the major cities. Another thing, the largest outbreaks are found around large international airports. Wonder if there's any connection there? (He asks sarcastically) Once again, if one falls into the demographic of the highest mortality rate then by all means stay home. If one does not feel well, stay home (that goes for any time, not just now). Crippling the economy and ruining businesses and the lives associated with them will be worse than the casualties the virus causes. Wait until food prices spike. Wait until the governors whine about budget shortfalls due to lack of sales tax revenue and they want across the board tax increases.

There's more to this than just an outbreak of a virus. My spidey sense is tingling.

Daryl Corona 05-10-2020 05:52 PM

Don't get me started. The sheeple driving in their cars wearing the mask and gloves are beyond stupid. I have yet to wear a mask because they do more harm than good. The mask is as effective against this virus as your underwear is against a fart. I, like Mike F., worked 40 years to build a business and I'm not going to comply. Some pinheaded politician telling me I'm not essential is a real joke. Rant over as I don't want to end up in the Parker hoosgow.

Harold Lee Pickens 05-10-2020 06:13 PM

West Virginia was the very last state to record a covid 19 case. In the entire Northern Panhandle -- one of the most populous areas of WV, we have had 1 death and cases under 100. our close neighbors to the west, Ohio and Pa. to the east are much more affected.
Don't know what I would do if I had a business to run. I now feel blessed that I closed my practice and retired in November, I don't know how I would handle this if still open--not well, I'm sure.

Dean Romig 05-10-2020 06:17 PM

EVERYBODY is essential to their own well being and to that of their families and to those who depend on them - make no mistake about it.

Does anyone know a government worker that's been deemed nonessential?
They're all getting a paycheck.

Mike Koneski 05-10-2020 07:15 PM

Sorry guys, but I didn’t help keep this thread on track. Austin asked if Ernie was open for business. I do know that there is an informal 5-Stand “League” with the Vintage chapter from NY on a Wednesday evening. $5/round, please bring exact change. Bring your own lawn chair too so Ernie doesn’t have to wipe benches down. I would contact Ernie or Tom Snyder for more info.

Austin J Hawthorne Jr. 05-10-2020 10:17 PM

Thanks Mike...and a trip to the Rock is on my to do list.
Austin

Well I am thankful I live in a very rural place, no close neighbors, my land ajoins the dept of interior lands, and am able to be in the woods to shoot or just walk and enjoy nature, sadly some of my friends live in big cities and can not do that this virus will change the way we live and do things, Gary

allen newell 05-13-2020 11:42 AM

I was feeling pretty essential this morning so I took my 13 yr old grandson to the club for 2 rounds of skeet. And he out shot the 'old man'. Makes me feel non-essential now

Pete Lester 05-22-2020 06:06 AM

As the weather gets better and the dates for the Northeast Side by Side Classic approach I am watching the weather as usual, but for the first time I am hoping to see a forecast for three days of torrential rain. It won't fix anything but it might make me feel better about it lol.

Daryl Corona 05-22-2020 08:25 AM

I hear ya' Pete, but us diehards would still be there with our Mucks on.:)

Harold Lee Pickens 05-22-2020 08:41 AM

I'll bring the tow strap and the gator
