December Parker of the Month

All who are registered to the Parker Forums are encouraged to participate in the "Parker of the Month" contest.. Until later this month (December, if my calendar is correct ), please post your pictures in this thread...

I will close this thread on or about December 30th - and post a new POLL so folks can vote on their favorite "Parker of the Month". At the end of the poll - the winning picture will be shown here:

http://parkerguns.org

As well - there is a slight change to the rules....

If you see a picture in this Forum (ONLY THE PGCA FORUM!) - you *CAN* nominate it for inclusion by LINKING THAT THREAD into a post in this thread... Please do *NOT* copy and repost the picture (as I won't know whose picture it is  ).

For example, let's say I wanted to nominate Harry Collins picture in this thread:

I'd like to nominate:

http://parkerguns.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2523

Please include the first picture in the first post in that thread.."

Have fun!

John

Charlie Gets Goose

1 Attachment(s)
Charlie goes all the way to South Africa, hauls a Parker along, and gets some kind of fancy African goose. Now he probably could have gone across the river to Southern By God Illinois and and shot some kind of strange bird over there, but going to Africa was enlightening.

I wonder if Brad's photo would have won last month if instead of a bird there was a dead cat, and instead of a Parker there was a rusty pipe. Some would say unfair advantage, but it's a photo he should be proud of.

Dave Suponski 12-16-2010 08:36 PM

Chris, I know my son Danny think's it would have...

Wonderful color Charlie. Is that Fuji film?

John Dunkle 12-17-2010 12:10 PM

I asked Charlie - and here was his reply....

"Kodachrome...
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a Parker day, Oh yeah...

I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So Marylynn - don't take my Kodachrome away...
"

John, You KILL me!! :biglaugh::rotf::biglaugh:

John Dunkle 12-17-2010 12:16 PM

And I nominate PICTURE #2 and #3 in this thread:

http://parkerguns.org/forums/showpos...57&postcount=1

(I'd nominate picture #1 - but only if that thing had a gun rack in the back with a Parker (or even a "Parka"?) hanging from it..?? ;) )

John

Dean Romig 12-17-2010 12:56 PM

Back to Charlie's picture.... I just noticed that the Parker is a .410 VH. Nice shootin' Charlie!! (nice Parker too)

Jeff Kuss 12-17-2010 01:00 PM

John,
How do you know it didn't have a parker sitting behind the seat?

Well, *IF* you had invited me out to drive it (and shoot some winged chickens) - I would have known it had a parka behind the seat.. But...

You didn't....

So I didn't...

:)

Best to ya' Jeff!!!

Eric Eis 12-17-2010 03:05 PM

John there is no way Jeff would allow you to drive that tractor it ain't a sports car and you would try to drive that way, probably taking out a barn wall or two  cause it didn't corner like your car. No Jeff is not that stupid...:rotf: even if you put a gun rack in the back window.....:corn: Best Eric

Jeff Kuss 12-17-2010 06:27 PM

Well - he made his modifications to that Parker - which imprinted it as "his".. I did the same?? 34" Whitworth BBls were a might LONG for whacking through the pucker-brush- so now they are 26". Good news is - I re-laid the vent rib with JB Weld, so it should hold OK?

;)

John

Dean Romig 12-18-2010 07:12 PM

Should we move all this banter off the "December Parker of the Month" thread and to a new thread titled "Sure Scott, I'll Go A Buck-A-Bird With You"?

Dave Suponski 12-18-2010 07:22 PM

Wow!! A little crabby today Dean?!!!!! :rotf:

$1 a bird??? Ok - I'll hold the winning purse while Scott and Dean shoot.... While they shoot, I may have to make an errand run....

;)

Best to all!

I nominate this picture that my shooting student Joe Wood took a couple of weeks ago on Red Mud Creek in the Texas Panhandle.

The gun is a Parker Reproduction 28 gauge with 28" barrels, straight grip, double triggers, and it weighs 5lbs 5oz.

That is me by the way. I am sure many of you thought it was Tom Selleck.

The dog at the bottom of the picture is 2-1/2 year old Belle. She is on her second season. The puppy at the top is five month old Ginger. Both are my French Brittanys. I did manage to bag one of the Bobs with the second shot and Ginger rooted it out of the grass and fetched it to hand.

Belle had the point.

If you keep clicking on the picture enough times it opens up by itself in a browser page and you can see better detail on the flying bobwhites. The original is about twice the size of this and you can see the eys of the birds. Cameras are truly amazing now - otherwise Joe couldn't have shot anything this good.

Best,

Mike

Dean Romig 12-27-2010 05:59 PM

Terrific picture Mike. Gotta love those French Britts... wait 'til Mr Dunkle sees that picture!!

Steve Huffman 12-27-2010 06:23 PM

How about the front cover of Ed Muderlak last book ? My sister gave this to me as a Christmas gift and whata beauty !

Joe Wood 12-27-2010 08:55 PM

Mike actually did manage to hit a bird on this rise.......finally! Most often He takes the conservationist concept of catch and release a little far, blasting away with his Parker into an empty sky or cutting down tree limbs. I think the bird he pocketed must'a been sick or a sorta slow starter.......darned unlucky either way.

We're huntin' again in the morning. It's going to be a Parker 16 day. He'll be shooting his little 0 frame with brass black powder crackers and I'll be lugging my 1 frame G damascus. Oughta be a fine (fun) day, if his turd hounds can keep their noses out of the cow patties......

P.S. These are WILD birds and lightening fast! Give 'em 10 feet 'n they're at warp speed--or at least it seems that-a-way to me.
