Never say never?

Please read the description very carefully. Serial numbers match, could it be legit?

00? Pretty nice condition, but are plain VH20s bringing 6500?

Dean Romig 03-15-2020 07:29 AM

I may just stop by and take a look today...

Brian Dudley 03-15-2020 07:46 AM

I take it you mean the 00 frame?
I see no photographic evidence that the description of the frame size is accurate.

It is a nice gun, but the price is unreal for it.

Greg Baehman 03-15-2020 08:38 AM

A friend inquired via their e-mail system about its legitimacy, my friend then informed me about the gun, I called KTP on his behalf and spoke with someone in their gun dept., he answered affirmatively that it is indeed a 20 on a 00-frame with lightening cuts in the water table, he couldn't answer further questions, but said he'd have a rep with more specific knowledge on this gun call me back -- that was a few days ago and I haven't gotten a return call nor has my friend received a response.

Dean, please take a tape rule with you and report back if you should stop by today.

Dean Romig 03-15-2020 09:45 AM

Will do.

00 frame, 15/16" between the pins if I recall correctly. Dean, please report back.

Some things just seem too good to be true....

Case in point -

This VH is exactly as a 20 gauge on the 0-frame should be, right down to the stamps on the lug and serial numbers on the 3 major parts.
It will sit at KTP for a long time unless they change how the ad describes it and the price of course.

It is a “transition” gun with no Parker Bros. Or Parker anywhere on the frame, except on the water table.

Just my HO, Dean

Thank you Dean. No wonder why they never returned our inquiries. :nono:

Eric Eis 03-15-2020 12:08 PM

Nice looking gun, just a tad high....

Dean Romig 03-15-2020 12:56 PM

If Mr. Dunkle still worked at KTP it would be advertised correctly.

The fellow behind the counter, when I showed him the single 0 on the lug indicating the frame size, said they went on the word of the man who traded it in on another gun....

Richard Flanders 03-15-2020 02:27 PM

I paid half that for a nice VH20 in similar condition and the same configuration.

Right Eric - it’s the real deal, nothing wrong about it.

Brian Dudley 03-15-2020 02:37 PM

Indeed a 00 frame with lightening cuts huh? Indeedly NOT.

edgarspencer 03-15-2020 04:43 PM

Did you happen to note the wording on the grip cap and butt plate. I find it interesting how varied the transition guns are.

The rear lug stamping is 20 O, that's Double O isn't it?

I didn't think to photograph the grip cap....

Maybe the trade in guy pulled one over on them if they take someone's word on a gun.

Bill Murphy 03-15-2020 07:15 PM

Oh, great. They gave the guy a big trade in value on a gun they thought was worth a good $6495. And our friend, Greg, gets on the phone and gets a confirmation that he posts on the PGCA forum. I can't imagine I will ever think about dealing with that bunch of Mossburg salesmen again. Oh, I forgot, I never have dealt with them before. "Send us an email and we'll send you some pictures. We don't put pictures in our ads." Sheesh!! By the way, Dean, thanks for the pictures. Nice $2800 gun.
