Hausmans June-Hotel

For those planning on attending the shoot is there a hotel of choice in the Vestal area ? Last September a good number of us stayed at the Candlewood Suites which was a nice place. Rooms there are about $130 nightly as of now.

Dean Romig 03-12-2020 04:30 PM

Many of us have always stayed at Quality Inn & Suites in Vestal.
They have always been very accommodating and the price was right.
Usually Larry or I had blocked off rooms for the PGCA so have at it - give them a call.

My business is in Vestal and I live a stone's throw away in Kirkwood. I plan on going to the event (first time ever) so hope to meet some folks on here there? If anyone needs help just PM me, likewise for restaurant recommendations. Except I can't find the date of it : (

Thanks Dean. I saw their rates while looking online and they were low for that area so I was somewhat skeptical. I was hoping that someone would have something positive to say about them which you did. I shall give them a call in the next day or so.

Let’s hope the Coronavirus doesn’t impact this event in early June! I’m wondering about the Southern next month! More State and local governments are banning gatherings.

Bill Murphy 03-13-2020 08:56 AM

The Quality in Vestal has been my choice for a decade. Of course, I would rather camp in the field and sleep in my truck.

I'm sorry Bill why are you trying to stir fear into everything about this flu. The H1N1 killed almost three hundred put a quarter of million in the hospital and it got media attention but not like this that has killed less then twenty in the US, I'm sorry this is serious but it must be a slow news day. And you are fueling it!

Bill Davis 03-13-2020 11:56 PM

I’m not trying to “stir fear” into anything. I was expressing my thoughts about the situation and I’m sure everyone has this on their mind. I hope things calm down and things go as planned. I certainly want them to! I have room reservations and plans to attend. I just had to cancel a trip to see my family in California next week and my yearly excursion to South America is in jeopardy. I don’t need to be chastised by you for expressing my concerns.

Andrew Sacco 03-16-2020 09:04 AM

Number dead doesn't matter it's the death rate and I think nid is spot on. Don't ignore that .1% die of the flu and death rate of Covid19 is 2.3% to 3.5% (depending on source). We;ve studied the flu for years, we know nothing about this virus. So your typical Parker owner (who is older) is 25X+ more likely to die if they get it. It's like putting an unknown shot shell in an un-inspected damascus barrel (gotta keep it gun related right?). It's an unknown how many will get this. Here in Vestal they are cancelling all elective surgeries like knee replacements and things are starting to shut down including dentists. I don't think it's hysteria it's just uncharted territory we're in. This is worth a look and why social distancing works better than quarantines:

I do the surgical post-ops for a high volume cataract surgeon. When I got to the office today, I found out that he had cancelled all his upcoming surgeries, so today will be my last day for a while. No big deal for me--social security starts in April(66), but worry about all the young techs and office staff with kids etc.
So tomorrow will drive up and see Kenny Graft and hang out at his shop. Still no confirmed cases here in West By God Virginia.

Andrew Sacco 03-16-2020 09:50 AM

You an OD Harold?

Harold Lee Pickens 03-16-2020 10:10 AM

Yep, had an office at a local hospital,East Ohio Regional, for 30+ years. The hospital was shut down, so I went in with an opthamologist friend.

Andrew Sacco 03-16-2020 10:22 AM

Private practice in Vestal, NY Cheers and stay healthy : )

Harold Lee Pickens 03-16-2020 10:51 AM

you too, Andy. Hope to meet you at Hausmann's--always my favorite event of the year, will be really upset if it gets cancelled.

Andrew Sacco 03-16-2020 11:51 AM

Hope to see you there, have never been and I live right nearby

Andy, if you want to shoot SxS's some time, drive down to Rock Mountain Sporting Clays and hook up with Mike Koneski (owner) and me. Let us know to be sure we can meet that day. Yesterday there were 4 other regular SxS shooters from the Binghamton area at the club. We have a small but growing cadre of vintage double gun and pump gun shooters. Rock Mountain is south of Montrose off PA 29 and about 1/2 hour kind of east of Hausmann's. Open Wednesday thru Sunday.

As you may know Mike is the new co-editor of the Parker Pages.

Andrew Sacco 03-16-2020 01:20 PM

Thank you Frank, I probably saw you there yesterday! I was shooting at the Rock (I'm adding to Mike's new gun fund...). Hope I get to meet you there soon. I live just 50 minutes north over the NY border. I think I went three times this week, but still can't hit the side of a proverbial barn...

Stayed at Candlewood last year and liked the place all be it in NY .

Booked at the rate mentioned above but by the time it was done with this tax and that tax it was over $500 . About $150 in taxes . Now I need to get Empire Carts on the phone

I think I'll drive up wednesday maybe as far as Hazelton and spend the night then drive 1-2 hours thursday morning .

Mills Morrison 04-29-2022 12:14 PM

Hotel tax is more than other taxes. We are booked at the Candlewood too so see you there

Garry L Gordon 04-29-2022 01:35 PM

I had not read this in quite a while. It was telling about how things have changed…and how they haven’t. Still trying to be there and hoping for the best for all of us.

CraigThompson 05-03-2022 02:05 PM

Well I finally contacted Empire for the most important part ! The GOLF CART !!!!! And while I was at it I reserved my cart for the Koneski Invitational in late late July :bigbye:

Brian Dudley 05-05-2022 07:51 AM

I booked at the quality last night. I have always stayed there when going to the NE. It used to be the PGCA booked hotel. The acomodations have always been fine and the breakfast is decent. Current best rate is $110/night.

I started with covid at 5:00 PM Monday night. Started with very tired ache muscles and maybe light fever. Later that night got the chills. Stayed in bed Tuesday under my electric blanket on 7....sweating warm all day and night. Had a on line with my doc and got meds. Wednesday the pain set in all over in my muscles, had to take advile every six hours the pain was bad! Stayed in bed Wenesday under electric blanket. Woke up today feeling like a new man, no pain...all better...(-: Worked in my garage alone all day on the 66 vett rag top. Still taking my meds but feel really good tonight. Did not get a runny nose either? I took a home test that showed positive, never had such pain with the regular flue! Looking forward to Hausemann's....SXS Ohio

Kenny you might test positive for several days or possibly 2 weeks. Be safe and take vitamin D, zinc, and C

Dan Steingraber 05-05-2022 10:14 PM

Glad your feeling better. Fantastic car. I'd love to see it. I had a 66 Chevelle SS.

Ivermectin works the bomb too. I had the wuhan in the beginning of December, took Ivermectin and was back in business after 5-6 days. Wife had it January 1, did the same thing and she was good to go in a week. Neither of us took the jab either.
