Parker Pages and Parker Letter
4 Attachment(s)
I received my new member package and the requested letter for my Parker DH 12 ga.
|
Welcome aboard Rod. I like the letter and the noted special request "for nice stock". Does it still have the 3 1/4" DAH ?
|
Congratulations Rod, and Welcome!
You will always be glad you joined as a PGCA Member. . |
I believe everything is as original. I’m in the process of having it checked out by Bachelder’s currently.
|
There is some history for the original owner in old papers of Spokane Wash. One article is about him catching a big fish. Just google name and place.
|
Thank you Gerald I checked it out and try to investigate more!
|
Rod, there are few Parker and old SxS shooters that get together, one is the Lapeer shoot in May (Paul Harm usually posts the date on this board) and if the weather is good a few of us will get together to shoot a round of Sporting Clays at Island Lake. Give me a shout if you want to join us. Eric

Dear Eric,
Thank you for the invite, I would like to join you all. Sounds like a great time. I have spoken with Rick Stover of Lapeer and he is going to do some restoration work for me in the near future too. Regards, Rod |
Rod, welcome to Parker Universe!

I am interested in getting a letter for my Parker GHE, 20 gauge with 3" chambers, 32" barrels with ivory beads, dual triggers, PG stock, S/N 188911. I am also interested in getting tag information if it exist but could not find my way to a place in your site where the tag list exist, it may be there but if so it is very hard to find.
Best Regards, David Hammond |
Doesn't look like any info on your gun from PGCA unfortunately. Sounds like a very interesting and desirable gun. Post photos if you don't mind

I don't understand why there would be no information on my Parker. Please see the following description that the dealer in MI where I purchased the Parker. "Parker GHE 20ga 3” chamber with 32” barrels choked mod/full with miller single trigger splinter forearm pistol grip stock. This gun is one of only 40 Parker GHE model guns with 32” long barrels. Purchased the gun from Vintage Firearms of Grand Rapids MI on 01JL2018 S/N188911. This GHE, sn18891, shipped in 1920, was modeled after the highly sought after WIDGEON DUCK CLUB GUNS. Famed Parker salesperson Arthur W. duBray had colluded with R.F. Cross, President of the Widgeon Duck Club, to come up with heavy, hard-hitting 20 bore guns to keep things more sporting at the club. Chambered at 2 7/8" to shoot the new 3" shell that had been introduced in 1912, with 32" M/F barrels and a 20ga. on the #1 (16ga.) frame, these guns have earned their place in history and are highly coveted by shooters and collectors. This is a very rare opportunity to own a piece of history, and a gun of great usefulness. Vintage sporting clays shooters are always after long barreled, heavy for gauge Parkers as the recoil factor is greatly diminished, and the long heavy barrels keep you swinging through the target. Another nicety is the very hard to find Miller Single Selective Trigger, the best single selective trigger every devised. This fine Parker has been nicely Turnbull restored and is in perfect mechanical condition. They only made 992 GH grade Parkers in 20ga., only 40 with 32" barrels. THIS IS A RARE PARKER WITH LONG BARRELS AND SINGLE SELECTIVE TRIGGER".
Thank you, David D. Hammond |
The fact that the owner of Vintage Firearms is very thorough in his descriptions of the guns he sells doesn’t confirm he ever had factory records on a particular serial number. The information he provided in describing 188911 is relatively common knowledge to disciples of Parker Brothers guns and who have copies of The Parker Story and a couple of EDM’s books.
You can double check with Chuck Bishop but if our website says there are no surviving factory records upon which to base a research letter, you can bank on Chuck coming up with a big goose egg. PS - It sounds like a wonderful Parker. . |
We have no records for this gun. Both the order book and stock book are missing for this gun's S/N. Griffin & Howe also doesn't have records for this gun.
|
Always nice if the records exist, but just as nice to enjoy a wonderful old Parker. So, now you need to buy another for which there are records...at least that's a great excuse, and one I've used with success on my wife before.
