VH 12ga.

Any info on VH 12ga. # 140322.

Thanks,

Dean Romig 12-06-2010 11:57 AM

Scott, there are surviving factory records on Parker 140322 to support a research letter.

Scott Gentry 12-06-2010 12:22 PM

Thanks, If I move forward on this gun I will, currently it is 32" with what appears to be factory single trigger and recoil pad. Shoots nice, one time had opposite barrell fire first.Any maintance required for these single triggers?

Bill Murphy 12-06-2010 12:44 PM

We need a picture in order to tell you whether you have a factory trigger or not. Can you post a picture or at least describe the trigger and its selector?

Scott Gentry 12-06-2010 02:31 PM

Don't have gun with me but it looks just like the trigger in a post "live bird gun" by Harry Collins on May 22nd of this year.

Ed Blake 12-06-2010 02:48 PM

Where is the selector switch located? Is the word "Miller" stamped above the trigger shoe where it fits into the triggerplate?

Scott Gentry 12-06-2010 02:52 PM

Does not have "Miller" on it, it is exactly like the picture submitted by Mr. Collins in his post of May22nd in the thread "Live Bird Gun", post #8.

Bill Murphy 12-06-2010 03:20 PM

OK, I brought Harry's post to the top and the gun Harry pictured is an original Parker trigger. We would still like to see pictures of Scott's gun.

Scott Gentry 12-06-2010 03:29 PM

As soon as Scott figres out how to do it :banghead:
I will take a few pictures tonight and give it a try. If not I may send them to someone for posting. I did take it on a hunting trip this past weekend and used 2 3/4 " #5 Classic Doubles and the mallards did not like it very much.

WOW!!! I *really* like that picture!!!! Nice shot (no pun intended ;) )!!!

John

Dean Romig 12-06-2010 04:57 PM

I agree - that's a great picture. I like the indirect lighting coming in from the overhead opening of the blind. It looks cold and steamy but the subject matter really warms it up.

That's a good candidate for the next POM.... right John?

John Dunkle 12-06-2010 05:15 PM

Yea - I really like the mood of the picture as well....

Tomorrow, I'll try to grab a few minutes and get this months Parker of the Month set up for the folks (I recently got back and still trying to get caught up..??!! )

As well - from the last month winner - Brad - did your daughter get her PGCA Membership Welcome Letter yet..??

Best to you guys - and sorry for the thread "hi-jack"..!!

John

yes VERY nice pic, parker of the month !! love the duck pics  scott

Dave Suponski 12-06-2010 05:42 PM

I agree....That is a POM picture if I ever saw one....Great shot.

Eric Grims 12-06-2010 06:27 PM

That diver looks like gumbo with okra to me. Chesapeake Bay BBQ duck for the mallards.

Ed Blake 12-06-2010 06:41 PM

Single Parker trigger, round knob VH, 32" barrels. What's not to like? Have you bought it and how does it fit you?

Jack Cronkhite 12-06-2010 07:05 PM

Scott: That is a nice picture. It resonates with many here because it portrays exactly why the Parker was built and that it is still doing its job so many decades later. If you get a minute, posting your favorite duck recipe(s) on the hunting thread will also be appreciated by many.
Cheers,
Jack

Don't do another thing until you buy that Parker.... I mean it.

Too bad about the reshaped comb but what the heck, It's still a nice Parker.

Scott Gentry 12-06-2010 10:42 PM

Was wondering about that, but it fits me well, and will crush clays. Think it was made for me.

Dean Romig 12-06-2010 10:46 PM

I see you've been workin' on your wristwatch with that little hammer.... looks like you hit it too hard.

Scott Gentry 12-06-2010 11:01 PM

just need to get bigger hammer.

Bill Murphy 12-07-2010 07:53 AM

That is about the nicest V I have ever seen. Please get a PGCA letter and picture it here. If your gun gets tired of living with you, it has a home right here. Thanks for the great pictures of a great gun.

Scott Gentry 12-07-2010 05:09 PM

I forgot to take a picture of the end of barrells, it does not have the blank space at the end yet barrells measure 32 " and the tubes touch, could they have been longer and cut some? I have not had it checked yet but there is a lot of choke left in left barrel, the old dime check but more so what it did on paper.

Dean Romig 12-07-2010 07:12 PM

140323, 140324, and 140325 all had 32" barrels but there is no record in the ID book for 140322. However, there are surviving records to support a research letter on 140322.

Bill Murphy 12-07-2010 08:50 PM

Get a PGCA letter and you will know.

Scott Gentry 12-14-2010 09:38 AM

Had gun checked out, right barrell 021 left 042 so don't think it has been cut. Will be ordering a letter soon to find out what else is known about this gun. Found a period 32" HH Heiser leg o mutton for it to travel in. Will post letter when it comes. Thanks
