Northeast SXS date
1 Attachment(s)
Have not seen any posting of the NE SXS yet at Hausmann's. Nothing on Ernies's website either. Assume it will be the first weekend in June. I really do enjoy myself at that shoot, great people, great times.
|
Harold, Ernie's shoot should be June 4-6. BTW, are you guys Batman villians? Batman villians were always shown crooked in the TV show. You guys must be even badder as you're upside down!! :rotf::rotf:
|
or in the southern hemisphere with a northern camera
|
Don't know what to do, new laptop wants to invert all my pics--comes up fine when I just view them.

I had a great time last year, the shooting all the nice SXS guns...but all the fun folks is what brings me back! Camping in the back 40 makes for a great time, as you get to enjoy the whole experience day and night. The gang gets together after hours to have cold drinks and tell lies about their great shooting and so on. Story telling, show and tell, great food and drink with new and old friends. I really look forward to camping in the back 40!!! Its one of those must do things. Some pictures from last years camping. Hope to see everyone back and some newbies too! SXS Ohio
Pictures key 1 Kenny Graft and Harold Pickins...headed out 2 Shootin the small gauge course, Harold, Kenny, Alan, Brett 3 Rib night party in full swing with Alan and Brett 4 Harolds camp 5 Deans house 6 Kenny's camp 7 Some relaxing with tumblers...(-: 8 Ruby keeping a watchful eye on the humans |
Thanks Kenny - that was sure a time to remember!
Can’t remember the guy’s name but in pic #3 tha fellow in the green T-shirt and RST hat is the owner of the field and woods beyond as well as most of the woods along the road in to Ernie’s. . |
That's Paul, don't know his last name
|
Also in pic 3 we can see Dave and Barb Wunrow, who have the “Hospitality RV” down behind the RST booth. They are great friends to all.
. |
The show isn't only in the tents. One never knows what they may see back end of Paul's field. Something wonderfully Parker shows up every year. I have seen displays of extreme athletic feat. Like a Hmmm...a middle aged fellow crossing a mud swamp in the dark, led by a leashed Setter all the while carrying a lawn chair and two 28 ga. Parkers while balancing a tumbler of amber.
|
OMGoodness! :rotf: :biglaugh:
. |
Now that the conversation has turned to dogs, does anyone know of a non-allergenic bird dog puppy for sale? The Lovely Linda and I have been dogless for way too long.

Just a reminder that Ernie's shoot also hosts the sidexside worlds Bo-Whoop event along with the single barrel Letterman cup event. You don't have to shoot a classic AH Fox, although it's highly recommended due to their superior choking system, but whatever classic you have in the trunk of your car. You don't have to be a master class shooter to win in fact a then unknown shooter Jeff from MI. came in third shooting an English gun. You don't even have to shoot a 12ga or 10ga. A 20ga. and a 28ga. did pretty well. You don't have to shoot for score you can just shoot for targets-only for a reduced price.
As the gun raffle is a major fund raiser for the PGCA the Bo-Whoop serves the same function for the AHFCA; to fatten the coffers. This also provides money for the slush fund for TOOLMAN to be able to carry out his ministerial duties in the Florida keys in the winter to help provide one piece bathing suits for the wayward co-eds who can only afford string bikinis. Think of the children and help us out this year. Everyone walks by it many times so stop by and see what it's all about. Toolman will have a pictorial record of his trip to the Keys. See you all there. |

I would like to see them Florida strings in use, please forward pictures....(-: That would be about the only thing to move the blood faster than a fine SXS.

Or a 30" Parker hammer gun with Vulcan Steel barrels...
. |
Frank;
That is Salvatore Cambria's Novelty shop in the downtown district of Moosejaw Italy. They were busted for selling tobacco to minors and fixing burro races.:) Mike; Bring it on. There will be a 32" 20ga. SW in the race this year as well as a 32" 20ga. C grade and we know what they are capable of. Dean; I'm not sure those Vulcan barrels are regulated well enough to out shoot those very well regulated and Becker choked Fox barrels but it sure is welcome in the race. Who will be attempting this with that rabbit eared piece? |
FWIW....BEWARE...Dean has a golden BB ready.....(-:

Possibly Mr. Koneski if he wants to give it a go. . |
No way Deano. You need to bring respect to the editor's wing of the PGCA. This is yours to win and I know you can do it. Besides, the mountain boy will be having enough to handle with his new duties. Don't distract him with this shooting stuff.
Kenny: That's all you need. Now how about you? What will you be shooting? |
what is the best shot size for the BoWhoop? Are 7 1/2 better due to their better downrange performance, or are 8's or smaller preferred for pattern density?
Also what payload do you feel is best for 12 ga--1 1/4 or 1 1/8 oz, and for 20's--7/8 or 1 oz. |

No no no, it’s the “Editors Gun” passed from Austin Hogan to me and now to Mike. . |
I do have a tight choked SW-12 30" Pin gun....and I will get Dean to bless my bullets, I have also voted that there will be no witnesses called....(-: SXS Ohio

No no no, it’s the “Editors Gun” passed from Austin Hogan to me and now to Mike. So that why Mikey took the job..... a free gun. Not bad.:) |

I like 7.5's but 8's would do the job. These two events , especially the Whoop, are built around and focused on tight chokes and loooooong targets so spend one afternoon with both gauges and shoot patterns starting at 40yds. I like light loads but you have to shoot what you are confident with and what your gun likes. In the 12 you could shoot 1oz. in the first barrel followed by an 1 1/8oz, 7/8 followed by 1oz. or any combination thereof. Same deal with the 20. I've seen it done with 3/4oz. loads in the 20 and the 28 so 7/8oz in the 20 can do the job. For me recoil reduction is important on the first barrel but the goal is to find a gun that you can shoot well and have fun. Just remember it's not the arrow- It's the Indian. Kenny; Your pin gun could be the winner and will do just fine. That's not a bad idea having Dean bless your "bullets" as he is looking for something to keep him busy post editorship. I hear he will be at the Bo-Whoop tent and circulating the "field" wearing his zucchetto blessing anything Parker, black labs and children. (Those of you who were altar boys in your youth will know what a zucchetto is). This was a job previously performed by the Toolmeister who is taking a sabbatical. Lube those hinge pins have a go at it! |

The late George Griscom of NJ won the Bo-Whoop one year with a new to him 28" 12-gauge Fox-Sterlingworth Field gun. Good Indian with a good Fox arrow. IME, the best pellet size and payload weight depend on the B-W presentation, and the targets are different every year. Daryl is the new Fox Shooting Events chairman and I'm sure his targets will be good but challenging. :) Just a reminder, at least in the past any maker's gun can win the purse, but the B-W Trophy honors must be won using an A H Fox design gun. |
Harold, the Pudelpointer is the ideal non allergenic bird dog. Do you know of any Pudelpointers out there? Thanks.
