Unusual B grade engraving
4 Attachment(s)
This BHE has some unusual engraving for a B.
|
Good looking gun. Looks more like an A
|
It looks like "B" SBT engraving.

I have two BHE guns a 12 and a 20 both have floral engraving
|
There is a two-gauge AAHE 20/28 gauge two-barrel gun on record with similar floral engraving. The order for this specific gun is recorded as "engrave same as the BH".
Obviously the gentleman who ordered this little AAHE had seen a BH on display either at Parker Bros. in Meriden or at their New York salesroom with the same full scroll and floral engraving and was quite taken with it. . |
Looks like I need to get out more! I just hadn't seen a similar one.

Here is another floral bhe . A 1905 order 1906 delivery gun.
|
It is 170851. A 1915 gun.

Was the original buyer a known pigeon shooter?
|
Bill,
I haven't received the letter yet to see if that info is available. |
It’s a beautiful gun.

My BHE 12 is a 30 inch Damascus gun set up for live birds. IIRC both barrels are choked .048 or tighter.

Sheesh.... .048" in each .... what kind of scope did you mount on that B Rich? . |
Leopold Vari X III 3.5X10X40 :rotf: In all honesty it's very tight. I have a 32 inch Fox CE that's .040 and it's tighter than that. I like the gun but it's stocked for rising birds so I have to remember to hole under a target which needless to say doesn't happen much:whistle: Makes a great trap gun but I don't shoot trap.
|
I have my great uncle's 12 Ga. Fox Sterly. It's .044 in both barrels. I'm not used to using two triggers, so often when shooting doubles in sporting clays, I forget to move my finger to the back trigger. By the time I get my brains right, the 2nd bird is 'way out. I'm amazed how often that target can be broken at 60 yards or so
