Parker Pages Arrived
My Parker Pages came today! What a great issue and a tribute to Dean Romig’s tenure as our editor. It’s been said a million times but can’t be said enough: Thank you Dean for all your work and sacrifice in the toughest job in the PGCA. Thanks to Kathy for being your support and biggest fan!

Mine arrived yesterday. I made it up to and through Garry Gordons excellent article before my eyes got heavy. Excellent work by all. I will finish the remaining articles this evening. Garry I got a real chuckle out of your comment on missing the straight away bird, "I am not unfamiliar with missing easy shots". :rotf:

I am also enjoying the articles from this issue which was waiting for me after a day-long trek following the dogs after birds (with a Parker!), and want to add my compliments to Dean for his good work...and to the other contributors. I learn something from each issue. I know the editorship position cannot be an easy one, and Dean was very supportive and accommodating to me in my struggles to get him appropriately sized photos. (Thanks, Dean!!) |
I'm going to be very jealous if Craig Larter figures out a way to take those 4 10 gauges to heaven with him. From the pictures it looks like the guns need nothing. Enjoyed the reading of your article Craig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you, Dean, for all your great work.

Great issue, enjoyed all the articles, especially the bird hunting Garry! And I will echo what you said, if you are in the South bird hunting = bobwhite quail!

Still searching for a GH 10ga and a BH 10ga to complete my 5 gun straight, very few BH's made and few have ever come to market. As we all say the hunt is half the fun. Craig

Garry, in reality, I am just glad Craig shares his acquisitions with all of us.

Garry,
A nice article on your 20 gauge Parker. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with the ability to miss seemingly simple shots! My 20 gauge DHE was also ordered by a gentlemen from Kentucky (J.B. Gatliff of Williamsburg). Interestingly it was ordered by Bourne and Bond out of Louisville in 1916. The dimensions are close to your gun and the chokes were ordered as RH 40% LH 60%. Ken |

As for the missing of simple shots, well, what can I say? I'm just glad I excel at something. The only time I shoot worse is when I see the bird on the ground in front of the point.:crying: I'm just doing my part for conservation. |
Picked mine up today at the PO might have arrived yesterday as I didn’t check the mail ! Very nice in it’s entirety!! But I especially liked the three 10 gauge articles , but that’s just me

I have always chosen the cover photo after much careful consideration, taking in all aspects of what each picture portrays to me and I hope to our readers.
It has often been difficult to decide, even among some pictures that weren’t sent by authors but that spoke to a season or type of shooting. But very very few just reach out and grab me... This one did though. It was so easy to choose because it spoke to me of memories of my own hunting. Memories of success early on a frosty morning.... well, I don’t want to repeat what I wrote in “The Cover” on page 3. Thanks Garry and thanks to Elaine as well! . |
Dean and Garry,
I'm just glad to see Gordon setters on the front cover! Not many people hunting with them anymore and they are a "throwback" to previous times. Ken |
TY Dean. Fantastic!
