Hammer gun
5 Attachment(s)
I just aquired a Parker brothers hammer gun..serial # 24400 indicates 1882 manufacture date..I'm having trouble with finding the grade..Barrell is Damascus steel I think it's a 10 ga..here are some pics any info will help..
|
The "2" just above the serial number on the water table is the grade. It is a size 3 frame grade 2 gun.
|
And the engraving is classic Parker Bros. Grade 2 engraving.

Thanks Eric

Grade 2 10g. On a 3 frame.
The 6 on the locking lug and the V next to the grade stamp on water table are both marks that I have not seen in those locations. |
Those marks are the ones throwing me off..thanks dudly

Are the barrels 32" ?

I agree with dudley and rolison in that I haven’t seen marks like that either. spencer, romig, murphy any comments?
|
I have not seen the H on the barrel flat next to the D which indicates Damascus Steel
Nor have I seen the V (or delta) on the action flat next to the 2 which indicates a Grade 2 Nor have I seen the 9 on the bottom of the lug.... they're all new to me. . |
I got nothing. Egger

Interesting lifter, rounded breeches, check hook, but no dolls head and lock screw in front of the hammers, a real transition gun. Do the latter lifters with all the post 1882 improvements have more interest with collectors?
You could make a nice collection of pre and post improvements to lifters. |
