Now It Begins - Needles and Pins
Grace and me and BIL Jamie are headed for Grouse Camp tomorrow...
but first, Kathy and I will be doing a bit of celebrating tonight on our 49th wedding anniversary. Jamie shoots a really nice Trojan 16 with 26” barrels choked IC/MOD and it carries like a 00-frame 28 gauge it’s so light! I’ll be giving my ‘new to me’ VHE 28 gauge Skeet gun a workout on its inaugural Tampico grouse and woodcock hunt... I hope. Rumor has it that bird numbers there seem to be holding their own... we’ll see. Let’s see if Grace remembers anything... it might take a little refreshing her memory on my part. Full report on a daily basis as it being at such an elevation that I get great cell service at camp. . |
Jenn and I will be toting a couple 16's both 0 frames and both under 5.5 pounds. the tri colored twins will make the season opener fun. Good luck to all and have FUN!:bigbye:

I head to the Upper Peninsula tomorrow with the dynamic duo of Ike and Duke. Duke turns 1 tomorrow as well. It's an extended stay 5 weeks with no internet availability so any reports will be in November. First gun up is Gunner's Gun as always. Have heard good things on bird numbers. I hope to get the boys into some Woodcock early on as there great training birds.
Good luck to everyone have a safe and wonderful October. |

Randy, where will you be hunting in SD on the opener? A small group of us (5 this year) will be in the Hitchcock area the 19th thru the 23rd. The farmer told us the bird count is good and there are plenty of ducks. Good luck with your hunt.

Have a great hunt and can't wait to hear all about it!

Congratulations on your award from the PGCA and your 49th anniversary. My son in law & daughter have a place in Jay, VT and the report is the leaves are in full bloom. Might be a tad early for good shooting. Keep your fingers crossed on your new pup! Best Allan |
