Beautiful!

Nice group of P guns Craig but #3 from the top makes my heart flutter. It would look nice next to my DHE 32" 20 with a straight grip. It's making the trip to Ernie's next month.

really nice but that 6 frame 10 lures me.....charlie

Craig Larter 08-17-2019 05:37 PM

Charlie that D makes me smile every time I look at it, 15 pounds of Parker not exactly a quail gun! Condition collectors would dislike the gun in that the CC is gone as is most of the damascus pattern on the barrels, the owner stamped his initials on both sides of the stock that has worn checkering-------but to me it's a beauty. Who was the man who ordered and used the he** out of it?? It has never been touched in my opinion and I hope it stays that way, a closet find not a closet queen.

I bought the book on Hunt recently. My favorite of his is the black ducks on Long Island in one of the old anthologies

To the larger frame Parker fans like us Charlie that gun is the stuff dreams are made of lol .

My goal is to own a grade 3 TL hammer guns in all frame sizes. 10ga in 2,3,4,5 and 6 frame. The O frame 20ga, 1 frame 16ga will be almost impossible as only 4 20's were made and only 22 16's. The hunt is half the fun!!

I think theres a grade 3 TL #4 frame 10 ga for sale right now .
Not sure its a #4 frame but its almost 11lbs .

Mills Morrison 08-23-2019 07:24 PM

The 5 frames seem to be scarce. I have decided not to seek a 20 gauge hammer gun as there are so few and other people want them more.

Ive only been able to find one #5 frame 10 ga .
I wonder whats the heaviest #3 frame 10 ga , ive seen some with barrels in the 6lb range .

Love the guns, but that painting of the prairie Chickens is outstanding!

I'm in the process of a model-21 20ga custom upgrade project. I'm having it engraved with a Prairie bird theme & will feature prairie chickens on the trigger plate.

Thanks Craig!!

Matthew Hanson 08-25-2019 07:23 PM

WOW VERY VERY nice guns and I love the painting too!!

I particularly like his woodcock & quail. The hunters usually carry a double, but none identifiable

I wonder if the larger frame 10 gauges balance the weight better than the heavy barreled #3 frames ? The 2 7/8 10 ga in a 10lb+ gun is very comfortable to me .

charlie cleveland 08-26-2019 02:27 PM

the 3 frame 10 with barrels in the 5 lb to 6 1/2 pounnd balance well for me my heavy barrel gun does not balance well at all....maybe if barrels are kept long 32 to 36 inches they may do well......a heavy gun was really made to come up over head for ducks and geese so balance is not really that important....

I have seen very few #3 frames hit 10lbs , theres a GH at Morphys with 6lb barrels that weighs 10lbs whole . 32" is probably my favorite barrel length but Ive had one 10 gauge a old Stoeger Zephyr that had a 36" barrel . You have to be careful with barrels that long not to dent the muzzles haha .

A #6 frame with a 8 ga and 10 ga barrel set would be the perfect double to me .

Craig Larter 08-26-2019 06:08 PM

I have had the urge for a 8ga but decided to not pursue one since it is illegal to hunt ducks with a 8ga. So I have decided to focus on 10's in grade 3 top lever hammer frame sizes 4,5 and 6..

In hammerless 10ga I have an almost full house, AH 10/32, CH 10/34 damascus, CH 10/30 Bernard, DH 10/30. Still need a BH 10 ga to complete the 10 ga hammerless collection which is a hard one to find.

I guess using one for other game in your state is illegal ?
Im in Georgia and we can turkey hunt with the 8 ga and other big game .

Seems most of the Parker 10 gauges I see for sale are PH and GH grades .
Do you take that #6 frame out waterfowling ?
