Don Reed 11-14-2010 01:10 PM

......... Yep, me too. Been having trouble with it for some time now. And I thought it was just me!!

L.V. Purvis 11-14-2010 01:32 PM

Me too! Been blaming my kids for doin somthing to my computer. Glad I checked in over here to see others having difficulty as well. I guess I should go UN-ground my kids.

Any ideas as to why the problems? I knew when they went 24 hours without a post that something was going on.

Bob Jurewicz 11-14-2010 03:11 PM

Still out.

Bill Murphy 11-14-2010 05:36 PM

Has anyone emailed Dave to find out what the prognosis is?

David Nelson 11-14-2010 06:08 PM

jerrybucci 11-15-2010 10:40 PM

Norm Growden 11-16-2010 12:04 AM

My wife was talking to Dave tonight, getting my DGJ subscription, and he told her the server is down.

L.V. Purvis 11-16-2010 09:01 AM

Noticed Homeless Joe is posting this morning. Site must be back in business.

Francis Morin 11-16-2010 10:46 AM

Well "Isn't that Special?"

Good Old Homeless Joe- he's to the Yee Olde Double Gun Shoppe website as Lou Costello and Bud Abbott and their immortal "Who's On First' routine is to Major League Baseball- good for a laugh, but not to be taken seriously. He called me once- on the phone he was "straight-up" but Boy Howdy- get him in front of a computer keyboard and "Sister Annie, don't you see the dust a-rising?"":corn::corn:

Maybe not such a big deal-

Now that paid-up annual and Life members of our PGCA are allowed to sell Parkers through our website, and rules and decorum must be followed, thanks to our alert BOD and our first-rate webmaster- why then sit in the "cheap seats" when you can be on the 50 yard line.

It is my understanding that only Parkers can be offered for sale (as well as parts, and the new swap but not sell section). A friend has some "non-Parker" gun parts, and asked me to list them for him as a favor. I declined politely, as he is not a paid up member and it is my understand that ONLY Parkers can be listed- not M21's or LeFevers, etc. Clarification on that moot point would be appreciated. Thanks!!:bigbye:

Hey Francis!

Actually - any fine doubles can be listed, it's not a problem. I do draw the line at handguns (I run other collecting sites that I do allow them - but those are not this site..), and I also allow higher quality O/Us as well on this, the PGCA site... "Black Rifles" really don't fit in this site, however..

Anyway - I would appreciate that anything listed in the For Sale section be by the PGCA Member who has possession of the firearm, so that they can respond to questions directly... That being said, I've chatted with some Parker Dealers (who are also Members), and will allow them to post inventory on this site - AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT ALSO posted on an auction site, etc... In my world - like the old addage - "Membership does, indeed have it's privileges", and if a few Member/Dealers want to allow PGCA Members "first crack" at some Parkers before "public listing", that's fine...

Thanks for asking!

John

The Doublegun BBS still remains "down". Anybody know what is going (or not going) on over there?

Francis Morin 11-19-2010 08:17 AM

Possible their 'chute didn't deploy

- Pete- I heard from a reliable source that their server was 'fried" either by a virus or gremlins- no word from MC Dave Weber- so will treat this as speculation for now--

John Dunkle 11-19-2010 08:28 AM

I'll tell you what, tho'....

If you run/host/admin any servers/websites - it's a LOUSY FEELING when something isn't working "just right". Server and system outages cause us heartburn, insomnia and temporary cases of ADD...

I feel Dave's pain - so, please - just be patient and I'm sure he'll get his site squared away... I'm quite sure the best thing for anyone to do is to let Dave know we'll be right back on the doublegun site when it goes "lights on", and reassure him that we know it's not his fault..

To Dave - if you are reading this - feel free to use this Forum to post any site updates regarding your forum, OK??

Best to all..!

John

Pete Lester 11-19-2010 09:05 AM

I wish them luck, it's a good site!

Leighton Stallones 11-19-2010 09:35 AM

Anyone have Dave Webers e mail address to check with him?

Francis Morin 11-19-2010 10:15 AM

You are indeed a "Class Act" John

Very nice gesture on your part. Dave is a good guy, sometimes the forums get a bit "rowdy" over there, but we all wish him well. We are all servants to the computer high tech world we live in nowadays, aren't we?-- PS breakfast at deer camp- used a friend's laptop and tried to get on the DoubleGunShop site- still "Kaput"--must be those crazy gremlins-
if they should happen to be German gremlins-- "Alles ist verrucht, Ja!""

Joe Wood 11-20-2010 09:11 PM

They'd better hurry up fixin' it cause I'm having severe withdrawal pains!

Jim Akins 11-21-2010 06:03 PM

Now you can get directly to the forum index page, but still no log on or ability to view forums. At least some progress is being made.

Jim A.

Dave Suponski 11-24-2010 12:43 PM

Well boy's ...Looks like the crisis is over...Let the games begin...:)

Jim Akins 11-24-2010 01:07 PM

I still cannot log on, it brings up my user name and password but but displays a not found when I attempt to log on. Last dates on all forums still at Nov 13 or 14. Has anyone actually logged on to a forum?

Jim A.

Dave Suponski 11-24-2010 02:04 PM

Ya Jim,I just tried to log in and got "Name not found" Maybe they lost all that info..false alarm

Pete Lester 11-29-2010 05:52 PM

It has been over two weeks since the site was accessible. Anybody know what the status is, will we see the DoubleGun site again?

Joe Wood 11-29-2010 06:10 PM

Yesterday, I sent an e-mail to Dave Weber asking what the status of the BBS is. Here is his response:

"Nothing good to report yet...I will get it up as soon as I possibly can."

So, it appears to me he is working on it. I have no idea what the problem is. I understand he has a day job so he's probably able to work on it in the evenings, etc.

Jess Lee 11-29-2010 10:02 PM

Keep the faith it should be up soon

Joe Wood 11-30-2010 09:03 AM

Dave Weber has posted this note on the homepage of the DoubleGun BBS:

"Please note as of mid-November 2010 we have had some technical issues with the DoubleGun BBS. These issues are proving to be very challenging and we are doing our best to get the board back up and running. Please be patient and we will be reloading and back on the line as soon as possible.

Please be advised it is NOT a funding issue and we are ALL FINE here. The hosting company had a significant server/network failure and this has caused some issue with restoring the server communications to work as they did prior to the debacle. I apologize for not putting this note up sooner; However, I was assured on multiple occasions that the host would rectify the problem in short order (and other tall tales.)."

Dave Suponski 12-08-2010 03:56 PM

Doublegun BBS is back up guy's.....

Francis Morin 12-08-2010 04:19 PM

"Oh, be stilled, my beatin' heart"

Just back on line for the Holidayz- so it's "Ho Ho Ho" from Old Homeless Joe- sorta like "De Ja Vue all over again"--

Seriously, as Dave Weber is a good guy- wish him the best. But being realistic- why go through the hassle of selling a Parker there when now paid up members of PGCA can do that with no fee?:p:p

John Dallas 12-08-2010 04:54 PM

A Modest Proposal (with apolgies to Jonathon Swift) - If a gun is sold on the Parker forum, both the buyer and seller send $10 each to Dunkle's Haiti mission.

What say you?

Dean Romig 12-08-2010 04:57 PM

What a Grand idea!!!

Not mandatory - honor system only.

Great idea John

Jim Akins 12-08-2010 09:50 PM

Doublegunshop Their Back!

Forum is back up and running today:bowdown:

John Dunkle 12-08-2010 10:19 PM

Hi Jim,

I hope you don't mind, but I merged your new thread with the existing thread on the same subject.... (Don't ask how I do those kind of things - I just do those kind of things ;) )

Best to you,

John

Francis Morin 12-09-2010 07:44 AM

As an aside- "Thank God I'm a Country Boy"

With due credit (pun intended as well) to the late John Denver- as I DO NOT use plastic money nor buy from e-bay or other possible fraud based places. I do business by personal check, cashier's check (or cheque when I order my Purdey I suppose) or as my Grandfather did- "CIF"-- this in light of the Visa and other credit cards hacked by the Wikileaks wrecking crew recently.

With the Holidaze approaching, extra caution. Another reason to buy or sell Parkers or other fine doubles here "within the brotherhood"- And now with the added chance to assist John and his Rennwish operation to boot. A "win win" all the way, said with due respect for the tragedy that has hammered Haiti almost beyond belief.

I think I speak for all of us "Parker-ites" when I say we are extremely lucky to have John Dunkle "at the helm" of the PGCA Forum site. And Dean's comment about an "Honor system" speaks volumes about our membership. Good work gents- all the way around--:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Pete Lester 12-09-2010 06:07 PM

Word has it John was late for work at the Kittery Trading Post after reading this post, I am told he couldn't get his head through the employee entrance :rotf:
