Is the PGCA doing a table at Hausmann's in June?

Is the PGCA doing a table and display at Hausmann's in June?. Is there any display theme.?

Dean Romig 05-21-2019 07:58 PM

........crickets.......

I have the PGCA tablecloths and banner from last year and can send them to anyone who volunteers to set up the tables, which takes about 20 - 30 minutes. There has been so little participation in recent years in the Parker booth we would really like to see some new faces step in and think up a Theme and do a decent display on a theme. Last year Brian Dudley and one or two others set it up and we thank them for their participation.

After I arrive sometime on Thursday or early Friday, Grace and I will be spending plenty of time in the 'booth' but I don't intend to do it alone. I will bring a 7-gun display rack but won't have enough Parkers with me to fill the rack.

Setup day is Wednesday, June 5th.

Larry Frey 05-22-2019 08:24 AM

I hope to be there on Thursday but not sure yet. I will help out at the table and can bring a couple of extra guns if needed.

Eric Eis 05-22-2019 09:33 AM

Wish I could make it this year to help out.

Dean Romig 05-22-2019 10:31 AM

Craig Larter generously PM'd me offering to set up the booth and to be present there as a PGCA representative - Thanks Craig!

Will someone offer to help him?

.

Brett Hoop 05-22-2019 11:06 AM

Plan is to be there mid day Wednesday. I can assist in set up.

Dean Romig 05-22-2019 11:18 AM

Thanks Brett!

Harold Lee Pickens 05-22-2019 11:59 AM

I offered several months ago to help set up the booth. I will be getting in on Wed afternoon, and the banners can be shipped to me if needed. I do not have any gun racks for displaying.

Dean Romig 05-22-2019 12:03 PM

Thanks Harold!

I would like to emphasize to those who are using the big field for parking/camping/eating to please do not throw garbage - especially chicken bones and pork bones - into the bushes and tall grass surrounding the field. These bones can easily splinter when dogs bite them and they can actually kill a fine dog by a perforated bowel. I'm not suggesting any of our collector groups are guilty of this kind of behavior but somebody has done it in the past and our beautiful dogs have gotten into these bones.

And to the dog owners - let's pick up after our pups poop! :bigbye:

A big "Thank-You" to all our responsible campers!

Craig Larter 05-22-2019 06:20 PM

Brett and Harold, I sent a PM to you guys. Thanks Craig

Be the Lord willing, I will be there Wednesday thru Sunday. I will check in and offer my help at the Parker table. As Dean has said...There will be several family pets lurking about so please don't throw anything down they could get, use the trash cans please! All are welcome in the back 40 for evening story telling so polish them good jokes and join in. Please bring your show and tell items for all to enjoy. We will have some good treats for responsible grown ups, the regulars always have some goodies to share...(-: 2018 pics.....SXS Ohio

Harold Lee Pickens 05-23-2019 11:06 AM

Thanks Craig, sounds like a plan. See you Thurs morning--and Dr Bob(LACA), we can help you also, I'll be getting in Wed afternoon.
Kenny , you sure you can handle roughing it in that camper?

I have lined up some nice Parkers for the display table at Hausmann's. Two very high condition totally original AAHE's, a nice sampling of grades from Trojan to BH and the Widgeon Duck Club DHE 20ga. Make sure you stop by the booth for a look see and some Parker chat. Please introduce yourself as I am poor at connecting names and faces. PLEASE bring in some of your Parkers for show and tell. It's one of the few times we get to handle guns for other collections. Thanks Craig Larter

Being at the forefront of low tech, and high comfort, I have been camping at Hausmann's since I began going, 9-10 years ago. It was damn quiet for the first few years, but the glamping movement eventually caught on. Allan Maclane and I began the Ribs & Beer a few years ago, which we enjoy doing. Allan has always made sure there were places for trash, both bags and a barrel. I do not believe I have ever witnessed any of our group disposing in any irresponsible manner. On the other hand, I think we're all aware of a couple guys who seem to have born in a barn, and As Dean is the master of tact and discretion, I suggest he speak to them.
Ernie has asked me to remind all old and new campers, that he would appreciate no open fires, though with the wet spring we've had, I doubt this is a serious concern.
It is likely the field owner will be there, perhaps on his tractor, Friday or Saturday, so please take a moment and thank him for maintaining his field and letting us make it our weekend home.

Just had a thought; As it's been so wet this spring, it might be a good idea to avoid the center area of the field, sticking to perimeter, or along the stone wall. Many of us remember (myself included), what fun the mud was a few years ago. Harold was the closest thing to Triple A that weekend.

No Edgar, I have never witnessed any of our group doing that and I don't believe they would. Shoot me a PM or a text and we'll discuss it.

There has been so much rain this month in all of the Northeast I dread what the field might look like....

Dean Romig 05-24-2019 09:44 AM

Good job Craig - and let's not forget the hammer guns.

.

Craig Larter 05-24-2019 09:49 AM

I could use a couple hammer guns, anyone want to offer up an example for display??? PM me if interested.
I own one hammer gun my 15 pound 6 frame DH, I would be afraid it would collapse the table!!!

I'll be coming up with Daryl and staying with the group in Montrose. Margaret won't be coming this time. I don't want to drive and I don't want her to drive that distance either. I just don't know if I can survive Tool Man's slings and arrows for 3 days:banghead:days See you there.

Harold Lee Pickens 05-24-2019 12:15 PM

Paul is the name of the fellow who actually owns the parking field. Nice fellow, he ususally stops by and has a beer.

So are dogs welcome at this event? I’ve never been.

Dean Romig 05-24-2019 10:18 PM

Yes, dogs are welcome. We all try to be sure our dogs don't bother other folks trying to enjoy themselves.

Grace can be a brat - she'll steal your lunch if you turn your head... and I apologize in advance to her victims.

But I'll do my best to keep an eye on her.

Daryl Corona 05-24-2019 10:20 PM

Absolutely. The older I get the more I relate to dogs as opposed to humans. I've got Labs, everbody loves Labs.

Rick Roemer 05-24-2019 10:29 PM

Ok good info. I’ll probably bring my griff or setter

As long as they don’t pee on your tent.

My Wirehair, Eva, spent about eight of her ten years at side by side events. Lots of dogs at these events, bird dogs and retrievers preferred.

Harold Lee Pickens 05-25-2019 12:43 PM

Advantage of having female dogs, they dont lift their legs but on the other hand ,they don't care where they poop.

Daryl Corona 05-25-2019 03:54 PM

It's just a dogs way of showing affection towards the owner. Now if he went inside and crapped on your sleeping bag then we'd have a problem.

Tom Pellegrini 05-25-2019 06:55 PM

Craig,
I will be bringing my hammer gun if you have a space on the display.
Tom

Craig Larter 05-25-2019 07:20 PM

Dean Romig 05-25-2019 07:32 PM

It is not going to be the same for several of us, not even close. Betty treated us like family including instructions on when to be home for supper. Her mind was as sharp as a tack and a heart made of gold, her farm was the NH Boys home away from home for this shoot and deer hunting. I look forward the shoot next week and seeing everyone but the trip will be a bittersweet one.

We got a great deal on rooms at the Red Roof in Johnson City NY. It's about 1 1/2 miles from the hotel where the PGCA booked rooms.

Bill and I are leaving Thursday morning around 530AM. No telling when we will get there, we are both tourists and like to eat :)

Dean Romig 05-30-2019 05:59 PM

Betty brought you boys up well. I am truly sorry for your loss.
