Club vintage shoot
2 Attachment(s)
My son found it a bit of a challenge to switch from his o/u to the D Grade
32" full/full especially on skeet, but as the shoot went on he had a lot of fun making the targets disappear |
Ken,
Boy, that warm my heart! Glad your son is a shooter. I have three grandsons, two of which are avid about guns and shooting and the youngest just doesn't give a hoot. At least he doesn't show it. After your son shot a few rounds with the duck and goose Parker did he like the feal of it? Harry |

Yes, he requested the gun for the 5 stand league wrap up about two weeks after and shot it very well indeed. Now he wants it for the next sporting shoot on the 7th, Ill have to practice to make sure I don't get my but kicked.
|
Sounds like the same mistake I made a few months ago. Took my son along to a SXS shoot and left him borrow my 12ga PH. Not only did he kick my butt shooting it for the first time, but it's now considered HIS gun!!
Oh well, small price to pay for some quality father/son time. Best part is, son says I can still use it whenever I want!!:rotf: |
Even though the gloating lasts at least a month, Im very proud of him when
he bests me. Then agion he did have a great teacher:rotf: |
Been there...Done that... Lost a nice DHE 28 Repro that way and now that he has shot his first woodcock with it all hope of ever getting it back is lost.

I'm keeping my eye open for something with more open chokes for him but Parkers are a bit harder to find here,
|
Ken,
I reload www.polywad.com Spred-R disk to get open patterns in my 10 and 12 gauge shells. The 12 gauge disk is used in both 10 and 12 gauge. They are easy to insert and really work. Harry |
Hi Harry,
Thanks for the info, I checked out there site, looks very interesting, I will order some inserts and give then a go. Too bad I won't be able to use them this weekend. Thanks again.:bigbye: Ken |
Ken, You will need to decrease your shot charge by an 1/8 oz. when using spreaders.
|
Thanks Dave,
I was wondering about that, I'm loading 1 oz of shot with the pink wad, should be able to use the deeper 11/8 winchester wad, do you know of any change in chamber pressure using the inserts? |
I load spreaders in 12,16 and 20 gauges. If you follow the 1/8 oz.less shot chamber pressure rise is negligible.
|
Ken,
When I load 1 1/4 oz 10 gauge 2 7/8" SpredR loads, I just eliminate the 16 gauge over shot card from the SP-10 wad and still load 1 1/4 oz of shot. My thought process is a swap of space and weight of the over shot card for space and weight of the SpredR insert. When I load a 12 gauge SpredR shell and just reduce the shot charge by 1/8th oz most of the crimps pucker out. I step up in wad as well, in other words if I am loading a 1oz load in the pink WW wad, my 7/8 oz SpredR load will be in the white WW wad. Anyone else have a similar experience? Harry |
