Silly Rabbit(s),...

straight stocked 16s are for birds. A parody of a cereal commercial in my younger days. Remember it? One with the cylinder right barrel, the other with the I.M. left on a 2 for 2 day. Thank goodness for double trigger guns for no one can move a selector quickly enough on a running rabbit.

Jerry, what can you tell us about your gin’s initial plate on the toe line of the stock? It doesn’t look like a standard Parker plate.

Daaaang...making me crave some hassenpfeffer!,,
Have not harvested a rabbit or a squirrel this year....feeling inspired! |
My wife is really a good sport when it comes to eating game. It doesn't matter if it's duck, deer or anything in-between. Not long ago I texted her that we were having rabbit for supper the following night. Her response was that no we were not because she does not eat rabbit. I guess that's why I hadn't hunted rabbit in almost 30 years. I do have a friend who's wife won't eat dove, but loves rabbit. I suggested a wife swap. You can guess how that went over.

If it's in the cabinet, shoot it.

I don't have a letter, but there is no sign of the standard round one you expect to find. The inletting is perfectly executed. It is a square/four point diamond. The stock is original. It does not appear to have ever been refinished. |
Is it engraved?

No. P.M. sent.

They were actually both young cottontail rabbits. The dogs ran the first one about two hours in pines about as tall as your head. Hard to see as he would run right by you at ten yards and you would never see him. Happened more than once. He was like Buggs Bunny and I was Elmer Fudd. |
Thanks for the memories!
I grew up in the Texas Panhandle hunting cottontails and the occasional jack rabbit with: Dog and Daisy pump M61 22 rifle Circa 1900 Parker 20 on 28 frame S&W M18 .22 revolver(riding on the right front fender of a 1942 Hudson mostly at night) We took them home and cleaned the cottontails for frying and jacks for chili grind meat - all good. I still love fried rabbit. |
