After being assured from my gunsmith that my 10 gauge Parker hammer gun would be back in my hands before this waterfowl season, I purchased a few boxes of Bismuth #5 shot 10 gauge shells from RST to use for the upcoming season. Waterfowl season opened and still no Parker hammer gun so deep into the back of my safe I went to find a gun to match the ammo I had recently purchased. Out came a LC Smith grade 3 built in 1888 which I don't believe has been used much in the last 130 years. I saw only 3 ducks all day but this one got close enough to harvest. It's always memorable for me to hunt with an antique gun in this modern world of semi-autos and black guns.

Love the sculpting on those early L.C. Smith receivers

Close inspection of a fully mature Ringneck Drake, reveals a really handsome bird!!

Here is one I took last season over decoys with my 3 frame GH 12.

Ate ringnecks for dinner last night. Tried a recipe which had been suggested by the Indian guides in Canada. Marinate the birds in Coca Cola for 4 hours, wrap them in bacon and put them on the grille, Reserve the marinade, add soy sauce and A1 Sauce, and reduce it. I poured the sauce over hash browns. I overcooked the breasts, but it was still a nice dinner

funny, the duck I showed fresh from the field last year just made the wall in my office...Taxidermist called yesterday, and just hung it this morning...for some reason the rust colored "ring" at the neck does not show very well..

looks good to me....charlie
