Thanks, Dean, for all the effort you pour into our publication. Your efforts, and those of all contributors, make it a highly-anticipated, must-read for every issue! Why else would guys from all over the country constantly compare notes on when it hits their mailbox?! :corn:

My interlude reading our association's journal for the Winter 2018 quarter, cover-to-cover, was over only too quickly. Super stories, up-dates, announcements for Members and useful, practical product and service advertising.
Now Volume 25, Issue 4 reposes with other past editions for future reference. Yes, Mills… E. W. Tinker’s Serial Number 79… In previous issues we have been treated to other Parkers that had unique, off-the-standard-pattern engraving images: The Cow Gun; The Chicken Thief Gun and now we have what is literally and figuratively The Kick-Ass Gun. Any well-executed engraving on a gun is an enhancement, worthy of study and appreciation. But these rare, if outré, Parker dramatic depictions are especially engaging, coming as they appear to right out of the 19th Century American genre art tradition. Many thanks to all the writers and to Dean for his continual, monthly editing of all the many elements in each issue. |

The three guns that Russ references all seem to have a humorous theme and the engraving may well have been the work of Jacob Glahn, Parker Bros. first in-house engraving contractor. His engraving on a particular gun is described in The Parker Story as being "somewhat cartoonish" and likewise are the three guns mentioned above. There are several other early Parkers with unusual engraving themes or scenes that may also be examples of Glahn's imagination and engraving expertise. . |
Just making my way through this excellent issue of PP. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but a special congratulations to Dean Romig on his “Charlie Price Literary Award”. Dean will agree, most have no idea what it takes to edit and publish the Parker Pages. A well deserved award to you, Dean, along with Mike Franzen on his award as well.
And a nice job to Mills on your book review article. I’m a big fan of AR and correspond with Jim Casada often. Jim is the last of a special breed. I have had the honor and privilege of handling Archibald’s Parker shotgun that was given to him by his students that he used for his turkey hunting (all his hunting, actually). It is still in the family’s possession, thank goodness. What a memorable day that was for me. Charles |
Many humble thanks Charles.
The contributors make me look good. . |
I remember your review of his other book and that partly inspired this article.
I should have emphasized that Rutledge probably used his Parker in all of these stories. Also, in addition to being a good Rutledge anthology, it is a great Turkey hunting book in its own right |
Got it today and tonight read it cover to cover. Thank you Dean
|
No one more deserving than you Dean for this award. Can't wait to read about it. My copy hasen't arrived yet!

Parker Pages made it to my house today. Congratulations also to Mike Franzen and John Truitt on their awards. Nice picture of the ladies. I know Margaret enjoys being and working with Deb and Kathy.

PARKER PAGES arrived in Southern CA today.:banghead:

I’m glad it finally did make it to your mailbox. However, I believe it should have been there two weeks ago.
. |
It probably got mixed up with Santa's mail.:)

Another great Parker Pages magazine. Which reminds me. I'm gonna have to get my dues sent off so I don't miss the next one. (I ration the spending these days)
I'm thinking about a bumper sticker; "Income fixed, everything else broke" |
Todd, ain’t that the Gods honest truth!!
|
Mine has not arrived but shoot with a fellow member who was kind enough to bring his to the club for me. Outstanding as always Dean and contributors. Thank you for your efforts.
|
Daniel, I received my personal copy about two weeks ago. IMO you've waited too long so please contact James Hall and he'll send you a replacement.
Best, Dean . |
I have sent PM to him, thank you.
