Little Pet 410 ga. Double.
Very cool looking little double.
Anyone know anything about these? http://www.auctionarms.com/search/di...8507&oh=216543 |
If it is a .44 cal with 1 1/2" chambers I suppose you could make shells from a .45 Colt or .44 Rem Mag with about 1/3 oz of shot.

I was glad to see that the chambers weren't reamed out. I figured that it was for the original .410 x 2". The 44 XL may be the proper cartridge. A few American companies made shotguns for the XL. It is made from the 44 WCF case and uses a long paper shot container. All the major U.S. companies made cartridges for it. That sure is a sweet little SxS!

Thomas: The H. & D. Folsom agent in Belgium, at least through 1914, was Louis Muller of Liege. Muller may have actually been in the employ of Folsom as he registered the Crescent trade marks in Belgium. He was also a gun maker and registered twelve trademarks 1889 to 1894 including:
Acme, Club, Climax, Star, Rival, Standard, Meteor, and I.X.L. http://www.littlegun.be/arme%20belge...uller%20gb.htm More here http://docs.google.com/document/pub?...iu5JGIhfguSXXQ |

Sounds like the same as they used to do with the Marbles Gamegetters. We had one that was a .22/44-40/.410 O/U. It had a pistol grip with folding wire stock; I'm sure some on the forum are very familiar with them. I shot .410's out of it as a kid; it was the very first gun I ever shot actually and I bet I could today walk to the very tree I perforated that day. I still have some of the .44-40 GG(gamegetter) round-ball cartridges that we had for it. Seems they'd be an interesting cartridge to a collector. They were obviously made just for the gamegetter.

what happened to the little 22- 44-40 -410 richard....that would be a truly intersting gun... bet shes getting cold up there in alaska...bout 80 here today in ole miss. charlie

I have seen only one Game Getter. They came in a few different configurations. Depending on barrel lengths, they fall under a set of BATF guidelines for short barreled rifles and shotguns. Kind of a shame when you stop and wonder how many Game Getters were actually used in the commission of a crime!

working on those picturesof 410 have tried to post them but no luck yet.. some body may have to help explain..... charlie

Here's another 44XL.

Neat little guns. I'm becoming a real .410 addict. I've hunted nothing but my .410's this season for quail and the openner in SoDak, I used a M42 .410 for pheasant to great success. The only occasion I've used a larger gauge this year was day 2 and 3 in SoDak when I used a 20g.
Here's one of mine that is a favorite. I've thought of selling it to fund other .410's, but I'm still on the fence. http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...owpony/410.jpg |
Is that an Ithaca?

In reference to the earlier postings, here is a nice Game Getter restored (or newly made?) by Turnbull.
|
Nice pic Mark. We had the scabbard for ours. Wish I still had it. My grandfather had a family from a previous wife.... one of them 'borrowed' it at some point and of course we never saw it again. Hmmm, perhaps that family member is also some distant relative of J Dunkle, eh??? I sure would cherish it now, regardless of the ridiculous BATF rules. How absurd is that, eh? Can't imagine what some of those monkeys are smoking to dream up such regs on guns like that.

This one is not as small and lightweight. But, it is a .410 double hammer by Crescent Firearms Co. It's the closest I'll ever come to owning a .410 double.
Anyone know anything about these? Dave |

I realize that these are not economically correct for restoration, but I get a really good discount at the shop and it was just laying around. So i went and did it. It was originally chambered in 44 Xl, 425 bore. I punched it out to 2 1/2 .410. It has chokes to .415. Just fun to shoot and light. Notice the barrels say Laminate steel, they are not, they are fluid steel and Brazed.

Just seems to me they would make for a slick little tree-rat gun
