Newfoundland Parker - LC challenge ...

That's what I called it anyways...I was carrying my CH and him the custom LC .Smith I built for him
The hunting age was lowered last winter in my province ,so as slim as the chances looked for him to take a bird over old Heikos point before the old dog died ,it was much better now ...Jack came to me after school with the proposition and I couldn't say no ...they are both 14 yrs old ,Heikos on his last legs and Jack is just getting started ,he got him with one shot on the third flush , old dog dropped it in his hand -his first day out and the first bird for the 2018 season the only one we had seen that afternoon ...to say I was proud is an understatement

So much good in that pic! Thanks for posting!

The smile says it all...what a great outing and congrats to the young hunter and the old dog. Interesting dichotomy with the dog at the end of his career and the boy at the beginning.

Stephen Hodges 09-21-2018 08:12 AM

Chris, thats what life is all about, congratulations to you, your dog and especially your young man...................:)

Eric Eis 09-21-2018 08:43 AM

You couldn't ask for a better day.....You are a very lucky man, Chris.

Dean Romig 09-21-2018 08:45 AM

That’s wonderful Chris!

The stuff memories are made of. He’ll remember that day and that old dog for all his days.

Great picture Chris. Jack is growing Up. It was pleasure to meet Jack last fall he is one polite young man that any father would be proud of.
Wishing you guys many more memory's together.

Karl Ferguson 09-21-2018 10:22 PM

Chris that is awesome ... I hope and pray to live long enough to be able to post a picture like yours but with my grandson

Todd Poer 09-22-2018 10:28 AM

Old dogs and kids have their day. Glad it all came together. I am sure you and your grandson will never forget the moment. Circle of life and its many paths and events never stops and sometimes the magic comes together at the right time, at the right spot and perfect company. This sounds like a story Ruark would have written about. Thanks for sharing.

Well today was a different story , jack had a day off school for the Remembrance weekend and asked to go on the barrens ... it was tough going for the boy but a couple extra cortisol kept him going ,the wind was howling and when Benny found two of these the right barrel of the Parker won the day ...take that Elsie !!!!

Phillip Carr 11-09-2018 09:56 PM

Great picture Chris. Wish I was out their with you. Walking the barrens last year chasing Ptarmigan was one of the toughest hunts I have ever done, yet one of the most beautiful and satisfying.

Precious and too few no matter the number. Great to see you are sharing with him things you value, and that young man is almost certain to inherit your values. And that is a big deal!
