Guns International

Gun number 101098874 from Bobs Gun Shop , Well what is it a hyper GH ?

Brian Dudley 09-15-2018 09:37 AM

No. Just an GH with a DH stock and an incorrectly checkered forend.

Dean Romig 09-15-2018 10:47 AM

If someone is serious about this gun he should order a research letter on it.

The forend does look questionable but the Grade 3 stock could be original.

Dave Suponski has a Grade 2 with a Grade 3 stock and the letter supports it.

Bill Murphy 09-15-2018 10:54 AM

Dean, are you sure you want to suggest ordering a letter. Whenever I suggest such an idea, I get trampled.

Jerry Harlow 09-15-2018 11:01 AM

Same seller has this one not with the "damaskis" barrels as the GH has but "twisted" steel barrels. 101098876

If they are twisted you probably don't want to shoot them.

Mills Morrison 09-15-2018 02:40 PM

How do you come up with damaskis? Would spell check even let you do it?

Most online sellers are decent folks but suffer from terminal cluelessness

Only if these barrels came from Warsaw...

Jerry Harlow 09-15-2018 09:00 PM

Again, the same seller has a L.C. Smith with a "Singer" trigger. Must have been made during WWII when instead of sewing machines they were making gun parts. 101092153

Very Rare L C Smith Premier Skeet 12 Ga 26" barrels Choked Skeet & Skeet only 430 Mfg.98% condition Beautiful Wood Singer Trigger Ejectors

Price: $4995

Manufacturer: L C Smith
Model: Premier Skeet
Serial Number: J9447
Gauge: 12

Also a "Venilated" rib on:

L C Smith Specialty Grade 20 Ga 32" Barrel Full & Full Rare Venilated Rib Single Triger Seliters 98 % Case Color & Finish

I can't figure out the Seliters though.

Dean Romig 09-16-2018 07:31 AM

Single Triger (Selector) Seliters maybe?

.

Nick de Guerre 09-16-2018 08:54 AM

Personally, I prefer Damaskis barrels, as the twisted ones dont pattern nearly as well. (They send out a spiral column of shot!)

Im not really a fan of a singer trigger, but I do find it beneficial when the gun has injectors.

This was a good one

Bill Murphy 09-16-2018 06:24 PM

Can someone post a lincht to these sales?

John Dallas 09-16-2018 06:49 PM

Bob's Gun Shop is a treat. Northeast corner of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Last time i was in there, (several years ago) it was filled with a bunch of nice, but badly overpriced, guns. Lots of African Stuffers on the walls. If you're in the area, stop in

Sorry, I don't have a link for "injectors," but I have seen it on several occasions. Lightheartedly, some of these are just spelling errors. But others are clearly "misunderstandings."

My favorite to date is "not safe for black powder."

My pet peeve is "Damascus" barrels when they are really twist. I keep an eye out for decent Grade 2 hammer guns. My new thing is to tell them to send my a picture of the rib where it says Damascus or Twist.

Mike Franzen 09-17-2018 10:56 AM

To quote the Godfather, “Never educate a mooch”.

Nick de Guerre 09-17-2018 11:33 AM

“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.” -- George Carlin

It's crass, and not gently stated. But the thrust of the point is true. Consider that one standard deviation in either direction on the IQ histogram puts you at 85 or 115. On the left side, then, that means >34% of the population is somewhere between dead center average, and barely functional as an adult.

What is a barely functional adult? Well, the U.S. Army has used IQ for almost 100 years as a basic metric for bucketing people. They found that at 84 a person was skewing toward being of 'negative use' to the Army. Meaning, the 15-16% of people beneath the 85 score threshold are essentially not worth the Army's training time...for anything.
One can only guess that would include even simple job functions like driving the water truck, mopping floors, painting lines on the ground, doing laundry, etc.

And of course, by inference, then, there are clearly gobs of people who are only JUST above that threshold in small degrees. So, considering the size of the Army, it's clearly a sound proxy for our broader society, for which similar conclusions can be drawn.

So...gun sellers are also a decent sample group.

Food for thought, as you eat lunch. *S*

The seller of my 4 frame 10 gauge went to great lengths to bash it and say what a wall hanger it was. His loss, my gain.

Yet I have seen numerous PGCA Research Letters where the wording was taken directly from the original Parker Bros. ledgers to describe the barrels as "Damascus" when in fact, the barrels are actually Bernard Steel, Laminated Steel, and Twist Steel on guns I have examined. Of course the vast majority of guns described in the books as having Damascus barrels actually do have Damascus Steel barrels.

I have not seen any of those. I have a GH with a half pistol grip (that looks original) where the letter says "capped pistol grip."

I recently bought a PHE 20 bore from Bob’s. The header of the Gun’s International listing stated VHE. I paid too much for it but I needed a 20 bore PHE and this one was in decent shape. You don’t see them all that often and I had to have it. I bought it about two weeks ago and it is still listed on Guns International.

Here's one that I own Mills.

Wow! And nice looking barrels by the way.

Dean Romig 09-17-2018 03:59 PM

They WILL look nicer soon.
