New Shooting Cap....

Warning Nothing To Do With Parker Shotguns
I'd been wanting a new lightweight shooting cap for awhile. Picked up a WW2 laundry bag at an estate sale that was made out an interesting herringbone cotton fabric. Just the thing! Off it went to my cap maker Barry Simonds in Georgia and this gem just came back in the mail. Off to Alaska I'm a few days so its about to see its first action. |
Very nice Destry, what are you going to hunt in Alaska?
|
Pacific brant, small race Canada geese, various ducks (harlequin is a big one), and then salmon fishing.
|
Destry weren't you the one trying to find a replacement maker of Jones style cap at one time. I thought when Duxbak came back they would make them again. I've got an old Duxback Jones cap somewhere from late 70's vintage.
|
I found a maker, it's Barry Simonds, he made one for me out of what was left of my original pair of Carhartt overalls.
Duxbak is planning on producing a Jones Cap but is having trouble getting their pattern just right. I've not talked to the owner in a few months, could be they've got it straight for the fall line. |

With that top photo you've got your new avatar if you ever get tired of the smiling Rembrandt. REC |
Trim up that goat and you could pass for Orson Wells. In Alaska they might not have heard he died. Could get you some extra perks.

Lucky me. I still have my Viet Nam era laundry bags. Are the bills cardboard or a waterproof material? Will your friend make more? Cost?
|
That cap will look good on the dancers at The Great Alaska Bush Company.
|
That sounds awesome!
|
Murphy,
Bills inserts are waterproof material. Barry will make anything you want, this one cost me $75 with me supplying the fabric. DLH |
