J. R. Pancake
The PGCA research letter on a Parker SB indicates that the gun was ordered by J. R. Pancake and shipped on September 21, 1937. Anyone ever run across Mr. Pancake in their research? If the letter wasn't signed by Chuck, I'd think it was a joke.

There was a plastic surgeon here in SE Tennessee with that last name. :)

It's a great name. It just makes me smile.
|
If his name was Cupcake he probably would never have shown his face at the traps...

Google is pretty good about turning up info on names in research letters. In this case, all I see is some restaurant in Oklahoma called Jr's Pancake House

Maybe Mr. Murphy has something on Pancake. He better not say maple syrup and butter, lol.

We have a local octogenarian nicknamed "Cupcake" that shoots trap at Spokane and Hauser.

I was a stagehand at the Lido de Paris, at the Stardust Hotel back in the 80s. We had a showgirl we called "Cupcake. That's all I'm saying. You gotta use your imagination.

I. R. Pancake, Plaza Hotel, Toledo, Ohio. Shot 1200 16 yard birds in 1937, average .8475. I don't know his correct first initial, but I would go with ATA before I would go with Parker Brothers.

Sounds like Bill found the guy

Todd- tell us more about the Lido. It was the best show in town in the early 70's. Certainly a lot more interesting than Mr. Cupcake 's shooting career. You must have had a great time there. The ladies were absolutely gorgeous. Jeff

I worked at the Lido from 1974, through 1985. The stories are best told in person ; )

I was never a stagehand, but I did spend a morning at Abercrombie and Fitch in New York when I was about 14 years old in 1960. Their photo crew was making still shot ads in the gun department. There was no attempt for the models to find dressing rooms when changing. Apparently they had done this before, because they were aware that public nudity was freely accepted on the seventh floor. The other floors, probably not so much. The fact that a 14 year old boy was present didn't bother either the models or the gun room staff.

Pancake sounds a lot better than Flapjack

Bill you lucky dog that must have been a eye opening experience.
