My Fathers Parker Shotgun
Hi Everyone,
I want to first say thank you for letting me join your group. I grew up with my fathers Parker shotgun on a gun rack above the headboard of my bed. He was the second owner and used it to hunt pheasant and partridge here in Michigan. I'm not sure if it's allowed but I would like someones help pricing it's value and posting it for sale in the classified section of this forum. If you're interested in helping me please let me know what parts you would want pictures of and any other information you would need. Admin please delete if not allowed. Thanks for your help. Scott St.Pierre |
Scott,
Post some pictures of the following: The top rib of the barrels where it says the type of steel ie: Vulcan, Parker, Titanic, Acme, etc The top rib at the end of the barrels The muzzle The barrel lugs at the breach The Butt Plate The screws on the Floor Plate (there are three) We need to know the length of the Barrels The serial number will tell us how the gun was configured Kindest, Harry |
Hi Harry, I will take the pictures you suggested and post them here.
Thanks for your help Scott |
You need to be a member before posting anything for sale here. Just FYI
|
Mills is right as rain. We can still help you identify what you have and perhaps help you with a value.

Thanks for the heads up. I pay for my membership by the end of the day. Thanks! Scott St.Pierre

I just finished the process on Paypal but forgot to click on the (Return to Merchant) button. Oops...I hope I can update my membership information on the Forum or website. Thanks!

Thank you Scott and welcome aboard!

Also Scott, the length of the barrels and gauge would help.

As a PGCA Member you can now access the Parkers For Sale forum. That is the only place on our website where guns can be sold.

There is an Antique Arms Show September 15, 16 at the Surburban Showplace. Put on by the Michigan Antique Arms Collectors. I will have a table there as will others. Bring it and shop it around for the best price. (edit) Also more importantly what the sellers are asking for their similar guns.

Hi Den, Thanks for the information about the show in Michigan.
Mills, Thanks for the warm welcome. Opening Day, Thanks for the advice about barrel length and Gauge. I also will measure the inside diameter of the end of the barrel. Thanks! Scott St.Pierre |
Scott - Simply measuring the muzzle diameter won't necessarily give you choke data, as choke is defined as the reduction in diameter at the muzzle versus the bore diameter. If you make an assumption that the nominal bore diameter of a 12 gauge is .729", then your muzzle measurement may be a reasonable guess. However, bore diameters vary widely. The terms Full, Mod, etc, are in fact defined by pellet concentrations shot on a target at specified distances

Looks like a good honest gun to me.

Scott - As Mills says, it looks like a nice shooter...
It’s current condition puts it in about the 10% category, but then one must consider that a less than desirable aftermarket ‘white line pad’ has been installed and the head of the stock appears oil-soaked, it’s value may even fall below the 10%category. Sorry for the not so good news - but it IS a family heirloom and as such, it should be “priceless” to the family. . |
