This is barrel 1 maybe this will give you better look Dean, sorry these are poor cellphone pictures.
Both barrels are the same I believe.

Dean Romig 07-17-2018 06:48 AM

It still looks like smaller tighter crolle. Do the flats have the single D or the double DD?

.

Scott Gentry 07-17-2018 10:08 AM

Single D on both barrels.

Dean Romig 07-17-2018 10:09 AM

Thanks Scott.

Hope so, sent check for letter yesterday.

Brian Dudley 07-17-2018 11:41 AM

It is my opinion the the checkered cheeks are completely original. I would be surprised if the letter does not call them out. And even if it doesn't, I would still say that they are.

Mills Morrison 07-17-2018 12:41 PM

Nice gun, any way you cut it.

Gary Carmichael Sr 07-17-2018 03:27 PM

Guard

Letter states Mark Guard Special, is this more than normal D Grade?

Dean Romig 07-28-2018 10:21 PM

It has just a little more ‘flourish’ in the scroll engraving at the front and rear than normally seen on a grade 3 but not a lot. It may have taken the engraver an hour or less to accomplish that extra flourish.
May we see the trigger guard “strap” where the serial number is engraved?

Steve Huffman 07-28-2018 11:45 PM

No mention of recoil pad ?

Scott Gentry 07-28-2018 11:49 PM

Pad

No sir, all I know is pad I replaced was on it a long time and hard as a rock. I am trying to back trace history on gun, appears to be a gun from my area.

Steve Huffman 07-29-2018 12:03 AM

the seriallization book has this gun wrong T13 H 2 S 12 32

See Chuck’s post on 7-14, it explains it.

Steve Huffman 07-29-2018 12:18 AM

Thats what thats all about ! I see now LOL

Dean Romig 07-29-2018 07:58 AM

The engraving on the strap looks like the ‘standard’ grade 3 engraving.

.

Brian Dudley 07-31-2018 11:35 PM

Yes, curious as to what the specially marked guard reference is about. Not much out of the ordinary about that guard as we can see.

Scott Gentry 07-31-2018 11:51 PM

Guard

Wish I knew also, even removed guard to look underneath but only found serial number. Maybe for that era it was slightly more engraving, did note from letter apparently no extra charge like it was for checkering.
