Parker Gathering in Georgia
Announcing the first, and hopefully annual, PGCA fun shoot and gathering to be held at the Meadows Gun Club in Forsyth, Georgia, on Saturday, June 23, 2018. This isn’t an official PGCA event but a part of the Associations attempt to encourage informal get togethers around the country. This event will be open to everyone, members and nonmembers alike. So please, invite someone. We will be shooting a 100 target Sporting Clays course and will try to begin around 10:00 AM. You may want to arrive on the grounds between 9:30 and 9:45 AM. Lunch will be provided. Cost will be $48.00 for 100 targets and $7.00 per person for a cart. If you are a PGCA member, it is strongly encouraged (but not required) that you shoot your favorite Parker. This shoot is not a competition and the only prize is for bragging rights. You are also encouraged to bring any and all other Parkers you would like to show off, and any other guns or items you might want to try and trade or sale.
The Meadows’ physical address is 1064 Rumble Road, Forsyth, Georgia, 31029. It is located approximately ½ mile west of I-75 off exit 181. The shooting grounds are about 4 miles south of Forsyth. If you plan on spending the night, there is a Comfort Inn at exit 185 in Forsyth. You can ask them about the Meadows Gun Club discount. If possible, please let me know by Wednesday, June 20, if you will be attending this event and how many folks you are bringing with you. I need to have a head count for lunch. I also need a volunteer to take pictures for the Parker Pages. Thanks and looking forward to a great gathering. John Davis jndavis@sowega.net 229-938-6085 |
I'll get down there and I'll tell others between now and then. ---Matt
Put me down for 2 shooters
Do you have to talk Southern to attend? I hate going places where I don't speak the language.....
George, There will be interpretors on site. I’ll try to work for you exclusively. Come on down.
Yes. Translators will be provided for all those living north of the Mason/Dixon line.
I wish it wasn't so far away. What a great deal especially $7 for a cart. (Or is that one of those little two wheeled affairs that are pulled by pigs that John Davis always raves about? Either way it beats Hausmann's prices.)
What a great idea for a PGCA Georgia Chapter event. |
Count me in.
I’ll be there with one youth shooter and hopefully another guest or two. Happy to help out with pictures...
Do you have to register early for the shoot or the cart and do they allow lead shot.
Oh yes! I'll see if myself, Geo, Murray and Barrett can go

I don't think you need to pre-register with The Meadows -- just show up by 10am. I know that John would like to know by June 20 how many people plan on attending so he can arrange for enough food for lunch, so please let him know in this thread or via the contact info above. |
No preregistration necessary. As Matt said, I'm just trying to get a head count for lunch. And no worries about using lead at this venue. Although I often don't lead my targets enough.:) I'm really hoping for a good crowd. John

Just committed to buying a GH 12 which will hopefully get here in time for the shoot. Looking forward to seeing everyone
If I can get off work I would like to drive and meet some of y'all. Just getting into Parkers. Coming from Sanderson, FL.
Come on up Greg!
I will try to make it also. See you there.
Good deal, Wayne!
The fun shoot is on for this Saturday. Looks like a good group. If you haven’t already, please let me know if you will be attending. The more the merrier.
Just a quick reminder that the Georgia fun shoot is tomorrow and it looks like we're going to have a great gathering. And the good news is, it's not to late to decide you want to come. In fact if you wake up tomorrow morning and decide you would like to join us, well come on. Also, don't forget to bring along any guns or other items you want to show off, discuss, sell or trade. I'll have a couple of non-Parker guns and an Atlas AT 50 trap machine for consideration. Looking forward to see y'all. John

Sounds like it will be better than a plate of hot grits! Gary

John:
Schedule is clear, I'll be there. I've picked the battery to bring: Late VHE Skeet in 12, skeet in, skeet out Early Damascus 12 in Grade 3 hammerless, Mod and full Unique Grade 4 Titanic with Rondel engraving, Mod and full I'll also bring my Nikons to take pix. Spin |
We just got to Macon.
It was a great event and wonderful camaraderie of the South East Parker Faithful. Chose the VHE and shot a 72 while skipping the last 6 targets due to monsoon. will definitely be doing this again.

Sounds like yall had a great time. maybe next time I can make it.
I'm counting on it. And I really do hope we can do this again. What a great group of folks (PGCA members and all of those who appreciate the finest side of the shooting world). When it's all said and done, it doesn't matter what the score was. It only matters about the friends you made.
Well said John. Thanks again for putting this together. It was great to see some friends and meet new ones.
John, thanks for putting this together. It was fun.
