Trigger Guards
Are Parker trigger guards sized to frame size? I need a trigger guard to fit a 16 gauge 0 frame. Where should I begin to look?
|
Contact Galazan. I got one from them for a 16 gauge 'O' frame and it worked great.
|
The trigger guards on Parker guns are all the SAME regardless of frame size. Even on the massive 6 and 7 frame 8g. gun. The trigger guards look a little small on those.
If you need guards, I have a whole drawer full of guards from various grades of guns. Granted the engraved serial number would not match, but I can at least get you the proper guard for the grade. I am a little thin on straight grip guards right now. FYI on the galazan straight grip guards. They are Parker Repro guards. and the length is different from original guards. By about 1/2" |
Longer or shorter than original Parker guards Brian?
. |
The Parker Repro straight grip guards are about 1/2" SHORTER than an original guard. And the screw spacing is different.
|
Brian, do you know if they are also shorter than the Remington Parkers of which the Repros were copies?
. |
To my knowledge, Ilion built Parkers have the same guard dimensions as Meriden guns, but I cannot say for sure that i am correct in that assumption. Maybe someone with an Ilion built straight grip gun can provide some measurements.?
|
What changes, if any, did Remington make after they took over parker?
|
It's all in The Parker Story Allen... You have a copy don't you?
Aside from the changes and 'improvements' Remington made to the Parker shotgun listed in TPS we continue to learn of others. . |
I have Trojan 20's and VH 16's and the guards are different widths but appear to be the same length. The older guns have the wider guards.
|
Any variation in width would be no more than the variation in finishing from gun to gun.

Parker trigger guards.
|
Bruce will not elaborate, so i will.
The difference one will observe between the two guards that Bruce posted is a function of the grade of gun. Not the gauge or frame size as originally questioned. Grades B and higher had their guards more finely finished and thinned out in the rear of the bow. |

All true.
I just have a few old beaters so that I go road hunting with my buds, chase down my bird dogs and shoot those little birds up along the Canadian border. |
Look at those two desperados hunting from the Royal Coach.
|
The pictures Bruce posts are wonderful. I wonder how he has access to so many great Parkers. Incredible. Maybe all the guns are his. The only thing wrong with that picture is the towel it is on. It should be yellow or a nice a nice mullti colored paisley.
|
That is a vintage towel Bruce was lucky enough to pick up at a K Mart blue light special back in the day. It’s secret lies in the fact that any gun laid upon it looks better than the background.
