Factory Sling Swivels
Gentlemen , does anyone have any good pictures of Our Parker Guns with " Factory Installed Sling Swivels "verified by a PGCA letter ? If so could you post some pictures to this thread ? Thank You ; Russ
|
Russ I have a DHE 20 with factory swivels. I'll dig it out and post up some photos. Are you primarily interested in the studs on the barrels and butt stock?

Hi Rich ,Well I happen to have a PH Grade with Sling Swivels and have wondered if in fact they are original ,I have done a search and come up with no pics. ! This is what I have ,do you think they are correct ?
|
The barrel stud looks correct. I'll dig mine out tomorrow and post some pics. My gun letters with the swivels. IIRC the cost was $3.
|
Thanks Rich , if it's not too much trouble I would appreciate it ! What do you think of the stud in the stock ?
|
Thats the one I'm not sure of. We'll see how it compares to mine.

Russ,
These may be the same ones Rich is looking for but they do letter as factory. The screw is not all the way into the body on the barrel mount as I just started it in for the picture. I agree with Rich, yours look like factory to me as well. |
Hello Larry ,Thank You for the pictures ,yes I agree they look exactly like mine but your picture is much better ! I took mine in my Gun Room ,I should have taken it outside ! Well ,I see another letter in my near future !

I don't have any Parker paper and I wonder if these were a listed option or something a person would request as a special addition. I looked in TPS and didn't find any reference. Anyone have any Parker listings that show these as "normal" options?

According to the letter they were a $3.50 option in 1911. |
Robin ,I looked in TPS also and could find nothing ! I did a search on our site and found a couple of threads but no good clear information ! Interesting option on a shotgun in my opinion ,although for long hikes back in to a good hidden area ,I could see where they could be a plus but in the actual hunt I believe I would remove the sling and put it in my Game Bag !!

Russ the pictures Larry sent are from the gun I mentioned. Saves me the big dig into the back of the safe:rotf:
The Europeans put swivels on shotguns but it's a rare request this side of the pond. Maybe the original owner was a waterfowler (although my gun is a 20) or perhaps an immigrant from Europe where the swivels were more common. I hope your letter will address this option. |
In the Fox records there are a few orders for sling swivels throughout, but most are on guns in the large orders by Martin Kohn the big dealer in Havana and L.H. Hagen the dealer in Norway.
|
I have seen several Parker orders for swivels, but have not tied an order to a gun. I think the European barrel mount with screws and Winchester style hook loops and the screwed in hook loop on the stock are the most likely original type.
|
Bill ,I always value your opinion ,what do you think of the ones on this PH Factory or not ? I am going to order a letter but its fun to figure ,and I figure factory,we will see !
