Original Case Colors

Looking for photos of super high condition original case colors for a 1920’s era VH. Anyone have such an animal?

Dean Romig 02-06-2018 11:44 AM

I can post some. Give me a few minutes.

Yes, I had a new in box VHE skeet gun 16 ga that many member have seen, I'll see if I can find the photos of it.

Reggie Bishop 02-06-2018 12:23 PM

Edgar's been keeping secrets!! He never mentioned that "mint" Parker! :)

I believe Edgar did tell us about the gun.

See the PARKER PAGES article entitled A PRISTINE VH, by Edgar Spencer, with photos by Mark Ouellette, Volume 20, Autumn 2013, issue 3.

I'm looking for the photos, unfortunately I no longer have the gun as I had to trade it away but I did get to see it again a few weeks ago in a collector friend's collection and it fit right in with his many (very) high condition American SxS. I was glad to see it in a fitting home.

I'm not keeping (m)any secrets. I wrote that gun up in PP a few years ago, and it has since been sold to another member. I believe he also sold it. It was unfired.

The curse of the unfired gun. You can’t shoot the damn thing (or can you?), so you have to sell.

But for those few who collect benchmark guns these unfired guns are the 'crem de la crem.'

I have a Remington era 12 gauge VHE 26” barrels trap modified forend. Sent to JG Heath of Remington in 1936. I had this at Vegas meeting last year. Several of our members had a chance to handle and agreed it is as close to new as most have seen. Beautiful gun. Its one of those guns that has sat in the safe because I dont want to damage it. I have been on and off the fence about selling many times. Į shot it once but wont shoot it again. The delema of own a very high condtion gun.

Mark Ray 02-07-2018 10:42 PM

Phil, can we,see,photos,of the gun..

Phillip Carr 02-07-2018 11:11 PM

Mark I am not sure how to post a link, but if you type in Heath in the search window I it will take you to a post on Skeet guns where pictures are posted. Not great pictures but later this week I can take better pictures of case colors.

Not really. I bought the gun, not to possess, but to learn from. It was too nice to keep to myself, and if I needed to shoot a 30" 12ga, I had plenty of other choices. A friend and I stopped in a little shop on the way to shoot clays at Sandanonna. The owner of the shop took it out to show us. We took it away, without giving it a thorough going over, and it sat on the backseat while we were shooting. It wasn't until we got back to his house that we realized what it was, so I bought it right then. I don't know if it has remained unfired, but It wouldn't have, had we left it in that shop.

Very nice guns Chuck!

chuck brunner 02-12-2018 05:10 PM

THANKS REGGIE! See you at the Southern

Bill Murphy 02-12-2018 06:31 PM

My .410 Skeet earned its many bumps and many scratches in Chuck's back yard in Loudon County Virginia. At one time it looked like Chuck's .410, but that was a long time ago.

chuck brunner 02-13-2018 08:39 AM

Murph
at one time I looked like that 410 as well and got most of my bumps and bruises
in my backyard as well.:rotf:
