This gun is in the book as a 10 gauge damascus C-grade with ejectors from 1904.

Are we on the same scale here? Just a reality check.

With a C-grade 10 with ejectors? You betcha.

In the family for 106 years? Uff Da! If the bores were rough, they coulda been honed (maybe?) Hmmmm....

Such things were done in the sixties on a daily basis. Six pound barrels. Must have been quite a gun. Anyone volunteer to spring for a letter?

Bruce Day 08-30-2010 03:32 PM

Mark, would you feel better if he had said " Oh the Hannity?"

It would remind you to watch Fox news more.....

PS Mark suggests that I trade my liberal icon SAAB convertible in on a Rush Limbaugh Limited Edition Cadillac Esplanade. I'll have to see what Sean Hannity drives. If not the Esplanade, maybe I'll look at the big Hummer, in camo.

Bill Murphy 09-02-2010 12:52 PM

Maybe Bruce could rave about his Saab and get some kind of favor. GM was always kind to me for raving about my vehicles.

6 pound barrels?

Bill; the photo is no longer up, but that 6 did not appear to be in the proper spot to be unstruck weight. I just checked a Dam 3 "light ten" on a two frame (DH). It has a 5 in that spot; finished weight is 4 4 to make an 8 1/2 pound gun. Perhaps single digit unstruck weights were stamped a little further left.
That 6 pound unstruck weight would have produced a 9 1/2 pound gun.

Best, Austin

My Trojan 16 weighs 6 pounds; the raw barrel weight is marked 3/8. Either it was mismarked or there was a whole lot of filing done.

Fred Preston 09-02-2010 09:57 PM

I could edit my last post, but this will bring it back. I intended to post the facts of my 28" 16 Damascus GH 1 frame. Total weight, 6/12; present barrel weight, 2/14; marked raw barrel weight, 4/10. As misapplied to the Trojan, I think this one is either mismarked or spent a lot of time on the filer's bench.
