Yes. Original checkered butt on a game gun. Only one I’ve seen on a game gun and not the later skeet guns. It’s nice, so are skeleton steel butt plates but they add a few ounces.

I love the POW grip, always thought they looked better than capped pistol grip.

I like that grip too. I have a "half pistol" VH 12 that I purchased from Russ Jackson, and I shoot it great. Back in my live pigeon shooting days, I always shot a "lightening" configured superposed, and the grip always felt good to me. Nowadays, I'm addicted to straight grip guns.

That is a quintessential Texas bobwhite gun Bruce!! Browning, Ithaca, Fox (brush gun) all produced "upland special" configurations with 24" bbls. I have a Lindner Diamond Quality Daly 20 configured exactly like that gun, except it is a straight grip.

Seems like the engraver added a little extra in the way of background engraving behind the dogs. Really nice gun.

Heck, all I use is an Apple i phone. Maybe it’s the practiced eye from my fung shui pickup truck business.

Every time I hear about a gun with 24" barrels I'm reminded of Gene Hill's "The Woodcock Gun"...

"It's a little English Greener, 16 gauge, 24-inch barrels side-by-side, bored half choke and improved...it's just shy of 5-3/4 pounds - but you wouldn't think it weighed that much; it's just there, and it flies to the shoulder like a shadow."

And, "How I'd like to know the man who had it made! He must have been an independent Yankee cuss. I'll bet it was the only 24-inch side-by-side in all New England. There must have been some laughs and jokes around the cider mill when he first showed it off!"

It’s a great example of an original gun with the rib matting extending the full length of the rib. Great gun. What is it choked?

Bruce ,That is truly a Beautiful Gun and Great Pictures as always ! Short Barreled Parkers are Great ,a year or so ago I picked up off of Gun Broker a 22" Barreled 16 Gauge ,O Framed PH Grade , weighs in at 5Lb.4 Oz. ! The gun was on for several days and each time I would cruise the sight I passed it over because the main heading had the Barrel length which I just automatically figured had been cut and the stock head was pinned ,then on the last day of the auction My good Buddy, Jim DiSpagno gave me a call and on the other end of the line I hear that very distinct voice ,Hey Russ you like unique Parkers why don't you buy the 16 Gauge on Gun Broker with the original 22" Barrels ! Here the seller posted the letter for the gun but I never got that far ! Any way as they say the rest is history ! Thanks again Jim ! :)

Very nice gun Bruce. Short barreled small bores are great for long days in thick cover. This little DH 20 with either it's 26 Damascus or 24" Acme barrels goes to New Brunswick every year. The worn checkering indicates to me that previous owners enjoyed it as well. This one like yours also has a checkered butt.

Could I ask where is the balance point of the gun? I'm guessing behind the hinge pin because of the short barrels but that is just a guess. I love the wood and engraving on this gun!

This will go to Georgia Quail hunting with me in January. A 26 inch Damascus 20ga CHE IC/M and according to TPS one of only 8 so configured.
I don't know why the pix are like this.

This will go also, an upgrade AAHE 28 26inch barrels (set #1) IC/M.

No problem Brett. There are some caveats however. A) you must be potty trained, B) have your own job or be retired, C) enjoy either a fine cigar or a good bourbon or both D) have your own bird dog.

Very nice gun, Bruce. I just purchased my first Parker this week. It is also a factory 24" barrel gun that is to be used in the Quail and Grouse woods. I was just talking about not really knowing of too many other 24" bbl guns from the factory. I took my first Western NC Grouse with it yesterday and have been smiling ever since. The gun is a O Frame VH 16 Gauge and I'm tickled to death with it so far. Hope that Llewellin is developing nicely!

Here’s my contribution to the 24” barreled guns. It’s A VH choked improved cylinder and light modified. Weighs in at about 6 1/2 lbs.

Have enough trouble hitting them before noon as it is! I think I mentioned hitting one with the FJ, and truefully it flew into the side of the car.
Afternoon I take a nap and only hit some, those that give me a straightaway in my dreams.
Now Finn my canine companion he likes a half an aspirin and a beer after a couple hours of running back and forth in front of me.
Me I just stick with the diet pop. Said to possibly affect ones memory, my coping mechanism to forget the missed grouse.

I forgot to mention that Charlie. It’s a 12 gauge and is the earliest known example.
