Parker Bros Trojan/ Two Barrel Set
I have a Parker Brothers Trojan 12 gauage two barrel set serial number 1620XX falls in the 1913 range with serial number on both barrels and forearms and each marked which is number 1 set and number 2 set. The number 1 set of barrels look hardly ever used. Could I get an estimate about how much this Double Barrel Parker is worth. I know pictures would be great but not able to right now.
Thank you Gerald L. Hacker |
Your gun is an “abnormality” when it comes to Trojans. The Trojan was supposed to be a catalog only gun that was not made to special order and options were limited. However, examples of two barrel set Trojans are out there. Which is proof positive that if a customer wanted to pay for such an option, Parker would entertain it.
I have found, as well as others, trojan barrel sets that were marked with ‘2’ indicating that they were additional barrel sets that got separated at one time. Your gun is the first that I personally have encountered that still retains its second barrel set and forend. The second barrel set adds value to the gun itself, but Condition is everything, so without good photos of your gun so that condition can be evaluated, any statements on value would be very general and speculative. |
Wonder how many "pm's" he is looking for?

Well, let's see Eric. Counting you and I, that's none so far.
Shotguns with multiple sets of barrels are mostly an 'American' thing. It is almost unheard of in England. They probably subscribed to the same belief as I; that it's better to have two guns. The Europeans, and very much so in Austria and Germany, frequently owned guns with extra barrels, but these extras were generally configured differently than the other, i.e., a SxS shotgun might have an extra combination barrel, shotgun and riffle, or double rifle. The same was true of over/unders. Julia's just sold a two barreled drilling that I used to own. One was a conventional drilling barrel, the other had rifle and shotgun on top, and rifle on the bottom. I'm pretty sure it was configured this way originally, with the conventional drilling barrel added later. |

Edgar,
Yeah, i think multi barrel sets are commonly found in German guns in that scenario you soeak of. A combination gun that doubles as an O/U. The last one i saw was a Merkel that had one set of 16g x16g barrels and the other was claw scoped in 16g over 8x57R. |

No. A friend of mine in Syracuse has one. He does want to sell it.

Back to the OP, I'm guessing that being a factory 2 bbl gun has to add at least 50 % to the value of a Trojan.

Everyone thanks for your replies. Just a rare set to me.

I owned at one time many years ago a trojan 2 barrel set, with letter, The gun was sold long ago and I do not have a copy of the letter. So they were made but very few! As to value I would not even venture a guess in todays crazy market, Gary

A small time dealer I know had a set and offered it to me a couple years ago. I passed because of condition. I don’t remember how much he was asking.
