in case a duck pond presented itself for a jump shoot. But used my little Raick Freres Belgian 28 to harvest a limit of Wilson's Snipe in some flooded hayfields yesterday......Fun, but my legs are toast today!!

Yes, I love snipe hunting too, but it is real exercise

Dean Romig 11-20-2017 12:39 PM

I've never been snipe hunting but always wanted to.

If your legs are toast I guess mine would be too.

We have some snipe hunting here in the Tennessee Valley. You normally have to wade thru the swampy mud to flush them, thus the fatigue from fighting the mud!

Tank and I discussing how tired we are after chasing down a couple of limit's of Wilson's Snipe on Sunday. 85 degrees, and not a breath of wind.

Thanks Reggie, Tank is my Brother in Law's dog...95 pounds of good ol English Lab. This was his first Snipe outing, and once he was convinced that we really wanted these funny smelling birds back, he did great. He is just 20 months old, and doing a phenomenal job.

Snipe are a great bird to hunt.We got them here in Florida and look forward to them every year.
Like that tag on the truck.Must be a story behind that?

Thanks Bob, Ireally like shooting Snipe! Takes those unsportsmanlike trees and thickets out of a good woodcock shoot!

Those are affinity plates for the Coastal Conservation Asssociation (CCA) that I am proud to have been the Chairman of the Board for the past 10 years. And the 8AFLY is my homage to my love for fly fishing, particularly saltwater flats fly fishing.

Maybe that is why I like Snipe shooting so much! It is like a combination of wadefishing and quail hunting!

Makes sense now.I see the what you mean about the similarities of the two.
I know there is something about a sxs and a fly rod that attracts a lot of us.
Actually driving home yesterday had a flock of snipe flush off the shoulder of the road right in front of me.Thought they were dowitchers at first but one parted out and flew right next to me.I could see him clear as a bell.Wished I had a good camera with me all afternoon.
