Who is Brian Board ???

Brian has been a member of the PGCA for many years and recently allowed his membership to laps---fear not, he is about ready to become a life member.

TimberLuxe---That is Brian Board----his attention to detail for wood and finish is beyond question, a true perfectionist. You can see his talent via the Parker web links !!! He attends most all PGCA and Foundation events, you just have not connected the name with the face. A great person and a pleasure to deal with.

I will get pictures upon my return from Maine---a few weeks.

I used Brian Board for stock work many years ago, I knew he was working on a new finish glad to see that it has come about, He does great things with a piece of wood look forward to those photos Allan, Gary

It looks like he has perfected his "new finish". And his checkering and stock work was already perfected.

These are pictures of Allan's VHE 28.

Also note the absolutely perfect mullering and the classic Parker Bros 'nose of the comb'.

Allan, those barrels look to be about 24 inches.... are they?

That looks Parker handsome to me. Well done!

Maybe it's the perspective, but the first, and especially the third picture appear that the gun has a very short butt height, i.e. distance from heel to toe.

Jean Swanson 08-01-2017 03:00 PM

Dean---the barrels are 26 "---M/F----21/2 " chambers

Edger---The stock is a standard small frame , 14" pull ,1 7/8 " to 2 3/4".
I have owned 20's with larger end butts, like a 1 frame gun and have owned 20's with smaller butt end ,like an 0 frame gun----I prefer the smaller of the 2. All the 28 bore gun that I have owned had the smaller butts.

I have a 24"PHE 28 bore that had M/F chokes , could not hit a thing with it set up that way. Herb Stratemeyer open the chokes to have just a few thousands , it is now DEADLY on grouse and woodcock.

Allan, what is the frame size of this gun?
I love the color he got out of the wood.

That's the one I was thinking of Allan - what a sweetheart of a gun that one is.

Edger

0 frame---I am looking for a set of 20 bore VHE barrels. I am sure they are around. That will make the gun !!!
