Gary, I have a 30" 20 gauge VH that folks have tried to pry away from me for years. Ain't gonna happen.....

Too bad about that black monstrosity on the back end

Dean Romig 06-01-2017 09:25 PM

A nicely done brown or maroon leather covered half-inch thick pad would be so much more attractive and would bring it to 14 3/8".

The Checkered cheeks either are an attempt to dress it up (as if the wood wasnt enough) or to cover a head repair.

Bill Murphy 06-02-2017 08:19 AM

Yup, not factory style.

I'm walking through prime quail country with that little Parker, obsessing about the pad, and whether the checkering on the cheeks is hiding something - not!

Gerald McPherson 06-02-2017 09:46 AM

Saw 4 inches off them long barrels and it would be right at home in Quail country. A fellow in considering buying one from me now to do just that. Go Figure!!!

Seem a bit pricey for a totally redone gun?

Enjoyed the comments on the 30 inch gun. It just did not look just right. Were not cheeks of DH guns sometimes checkered ? The checkering pattern appears to differ from the grip checkering.

Brian Dudley 06-02-2017 06:55 PM

Checkered cheeks on grades below BH would be special order.

The givaways of this one not being factory is the quality of the work. It is coarser than the grip checkering and the diamonds are not even laid out straight.

Bill Murphy 06-02-2017 06:59 PM

Yup, not factory and rough.

Harold Lee Pickens 06-04-2017 06:13 PM

That wood looks fancier than that found on most DHE's--my DHE 16 has checkered cheeks also, cant find a repair, but never had the stock off. Beaautiful gun, thanks for posting it Gary

There were some factory D grades that had Checkered cheeks that letter, but this one is not one of them.!

Rich Anderson 06-05-2017 05:15 PM

I have a DHE 20 that letters with checkered cheeks and two 30 inch guns and a 32. The long barrels are very nice on a clays course or open country bird hunting but not for grouse/woodcock hunting.
