A Buckingham Question

Can someone tell me the first and middle names of Nash Buckingham's wife?

The name Emma comes to mind, but I may be entirely wrong...

She is mentioned a few times and I've seen a picture of her on a duck hunt with a long-barreled pump gun... Does anyone know which gun she used to shoot "Mr. Bob" when she might accompany Nash on any of his quail hunts?

Dean

in a letter GBE published in his book on Nash- Nash referred to her as his "star at evening"

Thanks Rick - I had a hunch you'd come up with some in-depth info.

BTW

his daughter is also named Irma

John Dallas 05-21-2017 08:28 PM

Buffalo Bill's daughter was also "Irma". Hence the name of his hotel in Cody (The Irma Hotel)

PS - Try the buffalo stew in the bread bowl

Ate breakfast in that hotel last August. Good breakfast. Lots of history in that hotel. The bar came from either France or England and is flat out amazing. We didn't stay in the hotel but wished we had. If I recall correctly, the hotel was built and run by Irma and Buffalo Bill and his hunting parties camped in the mountains and would come back to the hotel for a day or two and then head out again to the mountains.

Is Buckingham's daughter still living I wonder? I've never met a soul who had ever met or talked to her.

I do not think so. She would be just over 100 if she is

George and Kay Evans knew her - that as close of a degree of separation I get to

I believe his granddaughter Irma Witt O'Fallon (born mid 1940's) is still alive and I think she has a couple daughters. Not sure if one of them is named Irma

BTW. Irma Witt O'Fallon (i think. - I'll confirm late) is the person who had the manuscript of Nash's autobiography which with the work of a researcher became the book "Mr Buck"

His daughter has passed away. His granddaughter was still in Knoxville,Tn. a few years ago.She was the one who sold all of Nash's papers to Dr.Halstead and the actor Robert Urich.I have heard that she is quite bitter about the deal.

Dean Romig 05-23-2017 08:02 PM

What is there to be bitter about? Did they deceive her?
I always thought Bob Urich was a stand-up guy... He moved here in order to be close to the Boston medical community for his wife. A lot of good That dos... He liver right up the street from me but I never got to know him well.

I don't know the details completely.I think that she had seller's remorse after they came out with "Mr.Buck"and "Once Upon a Time".Dr.Halstead told me she was a very liberal person and did not appreciate the heritage she inherited until the money from the books came in to him and Robert. They did not mislead her. They just made a fair offer and she accepted. When they made money off of the deal she got angry.

Dean Romig 05-23-2017 09:05 PM

Thanks for that insight John.
