Take a good close look at the muzzles on these barrels. Do you see what I see?

Dean Romig 03-29-2017 06:04 PM

:shock::eek::whistle:

Another example of amateur gunsmithing.

Scot Cardillo 03-29-2017 08:06 PM

..and for a mere 2K, they could be yours!

Excepting of the fine work that this set of barrels has received..is a common set of barrels worth that?

Harryreed 03-29-2017 08:17 PM

Are those hack saw marks? Just asking?

Dave Suponski 03-29-2017 08:26 PM

I can't believe how far off the barrels are. I understand the striking deal but this is just nuts. Not concentric would be an understatement.

Paul Ehlers 03-29-2017 08:29 PM

Who ever opened those chokes sure messed up a nice set of barrels.

Phillip Carr 03-29-2017 10:30 PM

I can here it now. He wants $100 to open up the chokes???? Heck I can buy a reamer and a brake hone for $60.00 and have the tools when I'm done to do more barrels.

Dean Romig 03-29-2017 10:54 PM

If I needed (or wanted) a set of 28" twenty-eight gauge Repro barrels choked MOD/FULL I would probably pay that much.

Daren Erickson 03-30-2017 12:05 AM

I was ready to buy them...thanks for seeing the key flaw!

Scot Cardillo 03-30-2017 10:32 AM

I guessed about 25% too high considering they are a typical set of barrels, sans mod of course..appreciate the feedback. Shame they appear to have been trashed. Making interchangeable chokes work doesn't look like it'd be an easy task.

Dean Romig 03-30-2017 12:31 PM

Even "typical" loose sets of Parker Reproduction barrels, in any gauge or length, are very scarce. I think 'supply & demand' would dictate the sell price. I'll bet the seller knows the problem with those barrels and has set the price accordingly, leaving room of course, for some dickering.

I once bid $4k for a set of 28" .410 Repro barrels.... and I lost.:banghead:
Were they "typical" Repro barrels? I think that term might be subjective.

Good points..

Sooo.. What would the approximate value of a 12 Ga., BHE bbl choked Q1 & Q2 be? I have a couple of DHE 12s and an extra BHE bbl. I like Q1&Q2 chokes and was going to put them with one of my 12s. Thanks for a reply.

Dean Romig 04-02-2017 12:15 PM

When you find a set that is for sale and you just have to have them, I don't think you'll really care what an 'approximate value' would be, according to other folks' opinions. They're not the people who 'want' or 'need' them. Only you can make the determination of their worth or value.

Even VERY experienced smiths can muck up chokes that badly. I have the proof.

Here's another fine example of quality work :)

At least it's not permanent..

Gerry Addison 04-04-2017 08:24 AM

I spoke to the gentleman selling the barrels and actually made an offer on the barrels before seeing the pictures. Ask who worked on the barrels and he said his gunsmith who had done a number of barrels for him. He said point of impact was dead on right and left and up and down. Glad I saw the pictures. Needless to say I won't be buying these barrels. Don't even know if you could get Briley to put screw in tubes in these????

Pat Dugan 05-08-2017 02:58 AM

I sent 28 in 28 ga Repro barells to Briley, they looked twice as thick as the ones in the picture and they said no way, had them choked to
Skeet and improved, super happy, shot a 23 on skeet with them yesterday

tom tutwiler 05-08-2017 05:54 AM

I think internal choke sleeves could be installed by someone who really knew what he was doing. Wouldn't be cheap and it will still be ugly.

David Dwyer 05-08-2017 07:21 AM

It just so happens I have a set of 28ga 26" I would like to sell...Good unmessed with-$2K OBO
David

Dean Romig 05-08-2017 10:15 AM

Who made them David?

.

Michael Frane 05-15-2017 06:02 PM

I can imagine those beautiful barrels held in a Black & Decker Workmate and reamed with a Makita!

David Dwyer 05-16-2017 06:54 AM

Dean
Repro's

Dean Romig 05-16-2017 07:28 AM

David Dwyer 05-16-2017 08:04 AM
