Remington grip cap.

I think we have talked about this before, but I'm getting old!
Was this a grip cap that was seen often on late Remington Parkers? Serial # 236700 range. It has Remington repair codes. |

I've seen that cap on two Parkers but I don't remember if they were Remington Parkers.
I believe they were put on more recently if a Parker went in for stock work or if the earlier cap was broken. . |
They were put on guns restocked by Remington VERY late when theybwere still doing service on Parkers.
|
When exactly did Remington stop servicing Parkers?
|
Per The Parker Story on page 163... "At some date in the 1960's, which we have not been able to establish precisely, Remington discontinued service work on Parker guns and referred customers to other firms. One such firm was founded by Larry DelGrego, who left Remington in 1955 and established his own repair business in Ilion specializing in Parkers and Remington Model 32's. The Frank Lefever Co., in Lee Center, NY, was another firm to which Remington referred Parker Repair work."

Jeff- not seen often but seen.

That is the same cap as on my Model 31 Skeet Guns and Model 31TC "Target" Grade.
|
It's the same as the ones on MY Remington 31 skeet gun and my TC 31.
|
What years were those 31's made?
. |
My Model 31s with that grip cap are all in the 1945 to 1949 range, but I've seen it on guns from the mid-1930s onward.
|
1931 to 1949
** I replied and Dave responded just before... sorry for the double post** |
