I first saw 157766 in late September last year at a local gun shop, it was not a bad gun on first look besides the ugly forearm, the added comb, the blue receiver and the recoil pad! The forearm is a little LC Smith like in an ugly way!

I go to the shop once a month and every couple months they would drop the price a bit. Today it was finally in striking distance, they phoned the owner with my reasonable offer and the deal was done. After a few hours and some vinegar I have the receiver looking respectable and it will be very nice with a perfect set of screws. The comb work is high quality work for sure and I will leave it be since the stock is original with the serial number stamped under the trigger guard. I actually ordered the letter when I first looked at it a year ago, nothing exciting there, just where it was shipped and cost.

Wanted D quality, checkered, ejector, splinter forearm!!

That forend is a serious piece of lumber! She's got plenty of potential.

Brian, I would like to take the liberty to direct everyone's attention to the floor plate and the engraver's depiction. Of true "flying turnips," I like them a lot!

That's a really nice gun Brian!

Dean, you took the words right out my finger. Indeed, great turnips.

Nice gun and like the "flying turnips". I always liked this fat bird on the trigger guard of my C grade Fox. I think it may look a bit like a turnip if it was flying! Enjoy your gun.

Hello everyone, a little update on this old dog. A complete redo thanks to Chris Dawe and LEMIEUX ARMURIERS. It is very tasteful and shoots lights out!

Hope you are all well.

Agreed. Perfect comb too.

Brian, that is beautiful for sure. Who did the case on the receiver?

Brian Hornacek 11-04-2018 07:17 PM

His name is Oskar Kob in Nova Scotia. He is very well know as a Colt, Winchester lever action and European case person. He does not claim to be an American doubles expert but I think he does a fine job.
