Custom Parker fun.

Good morning everyone, a lovely day today up north and we will be above 0F for the second day in a row after a wicked cold run. Found this for viewing enjoyment as I was doing my daily scan of Parker avail's. Gunbroker 605663661. It's alway interesting to see different forms of custom guns.

Just a light hearted post for the forum lookers.

Have a wonderful day.

One would think, if you put that much effort into a gun

You could at least time the screws

John Dallas 12-13-2016 11:04 AM

Wow! 16 pounds weight. Must be a 9 frame

Click on "Item Characteristics", you'll then see it.

wayne goerres 12-13-2016 03:59 PM

Maybe 8lbs of lead in the stock.

charlie cleveland 12-13-2016 07:01 PM

Rich Anderson 12-14-2016 09:46 AM

A custom gun with the top tang screw that buggered up. If that's a premium Parker I'll kiss your Mossberg:eek:

A safe queen or a drag queen? Not my favorite style of embellishment.

Bob Brown 12-14-2016 03:17 PM

Here is another one that is a bit of a stretch, a "rare" Parker Brothers "CH". Possibly renewed? (including the serial number).

Dean Romig 12-14-2016 05:24 PM

That gun that Bob Brown has linked here has a couple of 'warts' but has a LOT of appealing features - like a Miller selective trigger, ejectors, an original ventilated rib, and a screaming piece of wood. It would take a bit of work and a couple of $K but it could be made into a really nice gun.... although it will never be a "C".

The original barrels were 30" Damascus so the 'donor' barrels must have come from a vent-rib gun with 28" F/F chokes.... if we can believe the description's accuracy on the chokes.

Is that Claro or some really nice Circassian?

.

Robert Delk 12-14-2016 05:34 PM

English or Circassian depending on when you bought it.Looks like the thin shell walnut from California that Pachmayr used to sell.Local guy has a garage full of it.Literally.

Brian Dudley 12-14-2016 05:46 PM

It isnt even a C grade gun. G grade. And wasnt originally a straight grip gun. Another one who couldnt get the proper guard when doing a SG conversion. And i see someone else likes to blue their Parker top levers too.

At least the asking price isnt too far out of line for what the gun is.

Bob Brown 12-14-2016 09:48 PM

When I posted the link to the GH that was called a CH I thought the serial number had been altered. Does that look like the original serial number? I'll give them a call tomorrow and ask for a picture of the serial number on the frame and barrel flats.

Dean Romig 12-14-2016 10:02 PM

Yes, it looks right to me.

By the way they photographed the patent dates, i do not think the seller knows how to remove the barrels.

Any time i see auction listings with pictures specifically of patent dates or seeing them mentioned in descriptions, i know that is up. They mean nothing to an informed buyer. Why do i need to see a photo of them? Every Parker has them.

Bob Brown 12-15-2016 01:31 PM

I spoke with the gun shop about the "CH". He had no problems getting the barrels off. The serial number on the barrels is 98305, under the action and forend is 198305, and the trigger guard is 198305 as can be seen in the pictures. From the description over the phone where the grade stamp usually is on the barrels is a P. Barrel weight is 3 lb 13 oz. He said there was a CJ3 stamped on the barrels flats by the left barrel as well. The grade stamp by the serial number on the action is a CH he said.

That guy really puts the screw in screwdriver.

Brian Dudley 12-15-2016 03:31 PM

He is clearly reading the "G" as a "C". The vent rib could have been added by Remington since it has a Remington repair code on it.

And, by the way, the barrels are not marked with a grade marking. Only typically a steel type.

James J. Roberts 12-15-2016 04:01 PM

I only thing I like about the gun is the wood, the engraving is yucky J.J.
