What did you add to your Parker Collection in 2016??

What did you add to your Parker Collection in 2016?? I ask this question every year. I added two and sold none. How about you?. A nice 16ga hammerless GHE 30" F/F serial number 150714, the perfect upland gun for me built on a #1 frame 6lbs 14 oz. It made the trip to SD for a great pheasant hunting adventure. Not a closet queen but a nice original hunting gun, headed to AZ for a Mearns quail hunt in Jan.
Also added an original D grade top lever hammer gun shipped to A.H. Worrest ( inventor of the Invincible Single Trigger) in 1901 12ga 30". Nice ball grip.
I had a PH in nice condition for sale but fortunately it didn't attract any buyers so I decided to keep it. Vintage shotguns are a sickness.:)

Rick Losey 12-05-2016 06:51 PM

not sure if projects qualify as collections

i did pick up a 1 of 16 (according to TPS) 10 ga 28" barreled D hammer gun in a repro case, well used but interesting (unless you are standing next to it under the 5 stand roof at Hausmans from what I am told :rotf: )

Projects -

a VH 12ga 32" 3 frame - three breaks in the stock's wrist made a good project- once the checkering is redone it should be quite presentable -it even made the home page photo

http://parkerguns.org/forums/picture...pictureid=8517

and a Grade two 10ga hammer 3 frame 32" that was in rough shape but cleaned up leaving lots of case color under what was lots of rust, and the stock damage was repaired - needs an after pic in the album

http://parkerguns.org/forums/picture...pictureid=8165

and - a Parker grinder http://parkerguns.org/forums/picture...pictureid=8041

did let a 10ga hammer gun go

Tom Pellegrini 12-05-2016 07:15 PM

I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to add a pristine 12ga GH #64749 mfg. 1891. This piece could not have been used much at all. Not a mark anywhere, 30" F&F Damascus. Pattern is very close to 80 to 90% and the bores are like mirrors. Sorry my little camera did not come through with pictures worth posting.
Tom

P.S. The 12GA hammer Grade#1 in my avatar was also acquired this year. Mfg. 1884, 32" IC in the right side and mod. in the left.

This has been such a whirlwind of a year I'm not sure how many I have bought (between two and four) and I think I sold a couple of guns. I'm very happy with my purchases and not entirely sad to see the others go.
I have several project guns and I've made a promise to my self that I would try not to buy any more until the current projects are completed.... but it may be a hard promise to keep...:knowbetter:

Top picture is "after" Chris Dawe did his magic on a fabulous stock & forend from one of my hammer gun projects.

Bottom picture is a wonderful 16 gauge lifter..... the only one made with 27" barrels. Oh, did I mention the barrels are Parker-made Laminated Steel?

I managed to pick up two in the same week :rotf: !!!!! Both 16 Gauge guns a 32" barreled Parker and a 22" barreled Parker ,I wish the 22" had the condition of the 32! Oh yes I almost forgot the GHE Vent Rib Gun with 32" Barrels ,SST and Beavertail Forend !!!:rotf: Quite a year !

Michael Moffa 12-05-2016 10:20 PM

The tax deduction, Very Pretty Daughter got full ride to Alabama Law School, so I might be able to buy something in Vegas. Last time there bought four 16ga's.

Gary Carmichael Sr 12-06-2016 08:25 AM

Added three, sold two, the adds BHE 20, grade 3 TL titanic, grade 6 10 gauge lifter. Sold BHE 20, 225.00 grade 10gauge, Gary

Brian Dudley 12-06-2016 09:06 AM

No guns here really, but i was able to add to my collection of parts a good number of NOS stuff from the old Lefever operation. And I was able to acquire some interesting project guns from Bill's estate.

Dean Romig 12-06-2016 09:18 AM

Bill who?

.

Brian Dudley 12-06-2016 09:19 AM

Bill Scwartz. One of the owners of the Lefever operation. He passed earlier this year.

edgarspencer 12-06-2016 09:23 AM

I sold my GHE 28 and got a check for what I paid for it, plus a 2 barrel 28ga repro. Spent the cash on slate and copper work on the roof. I love old houses.
Bought a 24" DHE 20 back in the spring that turned out to be a great grouse gun, and traded a 30" CH 12ga, plus a bit of cash for a 30" DHE20. Straight stock and killer wood.
To be fair, I bought my wife a 68" snow blower for her tractor.

A whole bunch, actually. The most interesting is a VH 28 gauge.

Rich Anderson 12-06-2016 10:34 AM

Not much in the way of Parkers. Gary's BHE 32inch straight grip 20 came my way. I added lots of rifles however and a Fox:)

I am getting a fast start on 2017 however with a small bore hammer gun in the works.

Kind of a slow year in '16.

Only bought two. A DHE-12 which needs some attention for a couple of issues and a first year VH-12 which was sent back to Meriden when it was a year old to have the original Vulcan barrels replaced with a Damascus set.

I'm like some of the other guy's in that I have five Parkers & a Damascus barreled Model 97 Winchester out for work or restoration right now. I'm saving my gun money for when I get the calls on these projects. But I do watch the market daily, so you never know what 2017 will hold.:shock:

How accurate does this need to be?

Craig- is this what I actually bought and sold or what my wife knows about?

I added an early 3 dog DH 12 gauge that was really nice, than traded it off to buy a 3 dog DH 10/12 2 barrel set 3 frame.

Good job Edgar, happy wife = happy life.:)

Harold Lee Pickens 12-06-2016 12:13 PM

Wow, thinking back, I don't believe I bought a gun in 2016--I'll try to make up for that in 2017. I did start shooting a 20 ga hammer gun, and am leaning towards getting another hammer gun--get a lot of looks when shooting with the guys with their K guns, Perrazzis, and semi-autos locally. May need to make room by selling a couple Durston Special 20 Lefevers, a neglected Fox A 20, and a Grade 3 Ithaca 12 w/ chainlink Damascus.
My GH16 O frame has become my go to pheasant gun, and VHE 20 is my grouse favorite gun, so I'll probably stick with looking for another Parker

edgarspencer 12-06-2016 12:43 PM

Harold just reminded me; I forgot I also picked up from Jim Malone, a DH 16, 0 frame with 28" D4 barrels. I don't know why that one slipped my mind as it is a real nice shooter

Congrats Mills on your new 'go to' quail gun... and if you ever venture into our Yankee woods you'll be well armed for grouse & woodcock.

Brian great job!!! 16 new Parkers in one year. WOW. Now I feel I have my passion under control.

Eric Estes 12-06-2016 07:01 PM

19, note the x's 2 or 3...

Well done and congrats indeed. Especially for the ones that were "saved" that might of otherwise been parted out.

Mills Morrison 12-06-2016 07:19 PM

Good job, Brian! I wonder how many of us have shown your list to our wives to show them it could be worse? How many of us feel we need to kick it up a notch in 2017?

Jeff Kuss 12-06-2016 07:31 PM

I think I need to think about a move to Canada to find Parkers!

Brian Hornacek 12-06-2016 07:33 PM

It's been a wonderful year I and have enjoyed every minute of it!!! I have really enjoyed the forum and all the great people.........looking forward to meeting many of you in Vegas.

I left off the wood stove VH 12 ga and a 12 ga VHE that where beyond saving and were parted out.

Oh CRAP!!! Add 2 GHE Remington Guns in fantastic shap and I was having a few scotch's on Friday night and bought another VHE 16 ga in an auction....

And I LOVE that CH Wayne posted.

Only one Parker this year, a 30" grade 3 lifter in amazing condition, acquired from one of our esteemed  members.

I hope to have it back by the Southern as it is with Briley right now for installation of a choke tube in the left barrel, reaming the choke to cyl. in the right, a Hi-Viz front sight, adjustable comb and replacing the skeletal butt plate with a White Line recoil pad.

Daryl Corona 12-06-2016 07:55 PM

I'll do that myself with my Dremel.

John Cinkoske 12-06-2016 07:59 PM

Use a sharpened barn spike and a hammer. No grinding dust that way.

John Allen 12-06-2016 08:18 PM

I am going tomorrow to pick up a CHE 16ga. O frame with Bernard barrels. It has been tied up in an estate since July.I just got word that it is clear to pick up.Really looking forward to getting it home.

We just put 1000 rounds through that SAA. I think the frame stretched a tiny bit.

I'm surprised it held up for 1k rounds. It's an Italian repro you know. Uberti I think.

edgarspencer 12-06-2016 09:12 PM

:rotf::rotf: I called that lifter in as stolen just now. I told them the perp is leaving the country.
