Market Hunter's Gun & Sneak Box Model
4 Attachment(s)
At the last gunshow in Chantilly, VA last week-end a gentleman walked in with this Remington model 11 Market Hunter's gun. I knew I had to have it to put with my decoy collection. Also had the opportunity to buy the model of the Sneak Box at the Waterfowl festival at Maryland's Eastern Shore decoy auction two weeks or so ago.

now that is just too cool
what a great display the sneakbox looks like a cross between a BBSB and a skuller - now you need some tiny to scale decoys to stack on the deck we stopped at Harve De Grace show on the way back from Charleston last spring - the waterfowling history own there just makes one drool |
Very nice!
How many shells can the magazine tube hold? |
That's really cool

Rick,The sneak box model is a copy of a Merry Meeting Bay Sneak box used for duck hunting in Maine, good idea about scale decoys Broad Bills,Eiders. Frank the magazine tube holds ten rounds I use to go to Harve De Grace but have been in years, anyone when the date of the next show? J.J.

Very nice indeed but by the Title of this thread ,I thought we were going to see a picture of Destry's Swamp Angel and his Sneak Boat !:)

V cool mod 11 and boat. There's a very interesting market hunters Win Mod 63 .22 auto in the Cody museum that has a 45? rd metal drum magazine adapted into the butt stock and a suppressor. It was used to harvest flocks of geese on the ground by doing head shots, with the suppressor serving to prevent spooking them all.
|
JJ, is that a Parsons magazine on the Model 11 or home made? I have a Parsons on my A-5.
|
Very cool, and, of historical significance! It has been said, that, guns like yours did more to the population of ducks and geese than 4s and 8s!
|
Bill,I'm not sure about who made the magazine, may be a Remington magazine welded to the original. J.J.

I actually had a tragedy a couple seasons back. I had a Model 11 with a home made magazine tube that ran clear to the end of the barrel. I'd actually put a plug in it so I could hunt with it a few times. Was shooting down in Mississippi and the weld holding the tube onto the bored out magazine cap gave way, shooting the magazine about 20 yards out into a deep water cypress brake never to be found again.

destrey thats about the sadest duck hunting storey i ever heard..i too was once duck hunting with a lefever 10 ga.i shot at a duck when i unbreached the gun i heard something fall into the water at my feet it was theopening and closeing lever...i reached down into that cold water feeling very carefully around my right foot and found the lever...it would still open and shut the gun but would fall out....got it fixed several years down the road...charlie

Destry,I won't be hunting with my Remington 11 just for display with old working decoys,Rick thanks for the heads up on the Havre De Grace Art & Decoy Festival. J.J.

My Parsons magazine holds eight with one more in the chamber. Once, a member on one of the shotgun sites volunteered that he had a Parsons that he would sell, but we never got together. The Parsons is briefly mentioned in Shirley and Vanderlinden's excellent book on the Browning A-5.
|
There are two lengths of Parsons.
I've got two of the long ones, one just the tube and one complete with spring and retaining cap. |
There's a Parsons magazine extension up for bids on ebay,go's off on Sunday 11:10 call letters bthebler. J.J.
