Calling all early hammerless guns

All,
I am doing some research and am looking for any who have examples of very early hammerless guns to please contact me. I just have a simple thing for you to check on and report back to me. The first recorded hammerless gun was number 55296 and I am not looking for any numbers above 57600.

So, if you have a gun, action or frame between the numbers 55296 and 57600, PLEASE contact me.

As I am able to close the window on serial numbers, I will update this.

You've probably seen pictures of my gun several times before, but 56213 is a heavy Quality 2, 2-frame, 12-gauge that was ordered on June 28, 1889. For some reason the watertable is stamped E below the serial number instead of G --

Brian,
I have #56553, a DH 10 gauge on a #2 frame that had a 12 gauge set of barrels added.

Dean Romig 10-02-2016 08:45 AM

Brian, do you need to see the frame or will just the barrels be enough?
I have 10 ga. 2-frame barrels from 57XXX if that's enough.

I have an 1890 hammerless Bernard CH that is just outside your target range.

Brian Dudley 10-02-2016 08:58 PM

I am looking for actions or complete guns. Just barrels would not help me. Thanks for asking Dean.

Thanks to all who have contacted me. You have been a big help. I woild still be interested in guns that are near the top of my original range. Maybe a little higher.
Say... 57565 to 57800.

Jeff Kuss 10-02-2016 09:34 PM

Brian,
I have 56568. It is Austin's dh with the looking back dog on the bottom.

I have 55861. See my PP article on the Convertible Parker. Originally 12 gauge and sent back to be bored to 10 gauge,

Brian, Why didn't you tell me sooner that you were interested in early hammerless Parkers. As per chance I have #55296. I just came across your request for info while putting together an article about that gun. I Think I got it about 2000.

Ben Loving in CA has Parker DH 55296

I posted this so as to make his serial number searchable. With characters typed against the digits in his serial number it is not searchable.

Best Regards.

I’ve got 57172, 10ga 32” but it’s kind of a hot mess. Let me know if you need any additional info on it.

ED J, MORGAN 05-11-2020 10:36 AM

Brian I have two GH s.

Brian Dudley 05-12-2020 12:12 PM

Please note that I started this thread over 3 years ago.

If people want to continue the discussion on early hammerless guns, that is fine. But I no longer am compiling any info on them. Quite frankly I dont even remember why I was.
