14 gauge....
A friend just picked up what's supposedly a 14 gauge DH. Of course he's now wanting to shoot it. Has anybody sourced anything workable other than going to the expense of brass shells from RMC?

a hammerless 14?
|
It might be easier to have some chamber reducers made.

A hammerless so he says, I'm going to get the numbers on it.
|
i almost bought a d grade hammerless parker in 14 ga a few years back...charlie

I have never seen a 14 ga shell. They must be out there if the guns were chambered for them. Keep us posted. Very interesting

I Just looked at a very rough 14 ga. at a gun show last weekend. How many 14 ga. guns were made?

just need to go through all the grades and variations - i know the list is not 100% but should get you close |
I saw it today, it's pretty decent. Barrels had a bunch of little nicks on the outside but he's working them out. Lever a little left, but still plenty tight to shoot.

Here is mine, grade 2 Hammer, 14ga 30" 1 frame. I took it hunting this past weekend and shot 7 doves. When this shotgun was found, it was locked shut with two shotshells in the chamber. Once apart and cleaned, it appeared this shotgun hasn't been used in over 100 years. So, it was nice to bring her back to the field and see her perform.

John, what a nice gun. You must be a happy camper.

Yes, this was sold to me as a wall hanger. I really hate that phase, "wall hanger". This shotgun is so sweet to shoot as the fiber wads used looks like confetti flying everywhere after I shoot.
|
I know what you mean - every time I shoot my 10ga the confetti flies. Looks kind of cool, but very distracting when shooting the second bird on a clays course.
