Connecticut Shotgun
Went to Connecticut Shotgun today for the first time. Held a $49000 Holland and Holland!!!!. Very impressed. Tons of great guns to look at and shoulder and many options if your want to order your dream gun with your own wood and dimensions. Some nice Parkers to include a 28 ga VH. Very nice folks.

Their showroom is a place that should be on anyones places to visit list.
|
4900.00 is pretty cheap for a h&h. You should probable buy that one.

I'm wondering if a zero got lost somehow
|
I think you may have missed a zero?....Hi Steve, I got to go to CSMC back in March of 2015. I placed a order for a A.H. Fox XE-special 16. This was a made to order just for me! Lou treated me like a old friend. I now look back at that experience and smile! I hunted that gun this past season in Kansas for wild roosters and Quail. Its all GOOD!!! Many folks I have talked with can't understand why anyone would pay so much for a shotgun and then take it hunting! Well.....How many of them drive new suv-s and pick-ups that cost as much or more....down the old two track. After three years or so how much did that cost you? My Fox is a good investment....they have a good track record for resale value. I bought a used CSMC Fox DE-special a year ago....I paid way less than a new one just like it would cost today, but 5000.00 more than the gun cost back in 1997 when it was made. Few things in life we buy are that good! Is your new Gun a Christian hunter or RBL? Thought the RBL-S were over? I own a RBL-28, its a fine gun. Will your gun be hand engraved to your specs? I am sure you will be happy with it, they make top shelf guns! SXS Ohio....(-:

Yeh, I did miss a 0!!!!!!!!!! Ken if I decide to do it I will order an RBL Light in 12 gauge. I have the sub gauges pretty well covered. They had racks full of RBL's and did not indicate that they were stopping production. They had one Light in stock with 30" barrels, but the LOP is a little long for me. It weighs 7Lb 2oz and was very lively in your hands. I would go with the regular engraving and case coloring. The regular weight RBL's were a bit on the heavy side for my liking. The wood room is amazing. If you could not find a blank to your liking I don't think it exists:)

We were just poking fun at your typo. We all new what you meant.

Wayne - Typo? We "new" what you meant

That place is the 8th wonder of the world. Held a H&H .410 there. $185,000. I could spend a week there.

I bought a used H&H 20ga at Hausmans a couple of years ago. It's the next grade down from a Royal and I couldn't be happier with it. It was a fraction of the cost of a new one.
|
I tried spell check but it wasn't any help.

That's a special piece of wood, for sure. Each time I see one of Tony's guns, I am in awe what a machine can do, but laser checkering makes me appreciate the skill of a good stockmaker. We are fortunate there are guys like Chris Dawe, and Brian Dudley. No amount of technology can ever replace the beauty of hand checkered walnut.

Hand checkering
3 Attachment(s)
Well I am having a hard time waiting for the professional photographer, so I will show a couple photos of the hand checkering done by Mr Chris Dawe, on the " Mattie Gun ", I will post more after Mike comes to photo after the Southern, This gun has been in the works for 3 years, Hats off to Mr Chris Dawe, Brian Frank, Oskar, and Sean McGuire for getting it back in country for me, Gary
|
The gun started life as a 16g a 0 frame, 0 grade with twist barrels, it now sports 28" vulcan steel barrels with the correct check hook, and other nice things as you can see, I am like a kid in a candy store! the gun is a special tribute to my old four legged friend, I had a talk with her after I received the gun, if you know what I mean, Gary
|
Now that's exactly what I'm talking about!

Gary, all involved in putting that hammer gun together truly went all out! Very nice. |
Gary,
That hammer gun is something to be proud of for sure. The special touches on the checkering are beyond words. Fantastic job Chris Dawe, that is impressive! |
Gary, that is a masterpiece for sure. All the craftsmen involved should be proud. The stock work by Chris Dawe is truly amazing. That fine line checkering is not at all easy to do no less THAT WELL. Congratulations on an amazing piece of art. Use it in good health my friend.

Brian D and Brian H and Jim, thanks for the compliments, The guys that worked on this gun were all in Canada, simply to keep it from going back and forth across the " Berlin Wall " or customs as we call it, Canada passed a law while the gun was there that even if it was an antique, if it would accept modern shells you can not ship it out or into Canada, also UPS in New York, " Bloombergville " would not ship it! finally got it across in Oswego, and shipped via USPS, It takes two weeks to get a letter to someone in Canada, obviously they still have the pony express up there, I was lucky to have Sean get it out, and thru customs they wanted all invoices, entry papers, proof of date of manufacture, and on and on. glad it is home! The guys up in Canada did a wonderful job for me and jumped thru some hoops that most would not have done, I really appreciate that, this guns means a lot to me and is one of my most prized possessions, sorry do not mean to be long winded, Gary
