Parker Trap

Well , a neat Parker Brothers Gun popped up for sale locally a while back ,I managed to keep my mouth shut about it while I gave it a bit of thought and a few days ago I decided to go ahead and add it to the clutch ! Thought maybe you Trap Shooters might like to take a look ! The gun has been refinished and has Rem. Repair codes " KTT3 " on her ,I am suspecting Factory refinish , it is how it left the Factory according to the Parker Serialization Book and is listed in " The Parker Story " under Original Ventilated Rib Guns " Serial # 227103 ! Take a look and maybe you fellows with Factory Refinished Guns could give an opinion ! The Gun has 32" Barrels ,Beaver tail Forend with correct lug and through bolt ,Single Select Trigger , Ejectors and Ventilated Rib !:)

Great looking gun, Russ!

Brian Dudley 04-08-2016 01:48 PM

It bears many of the features of a DelGrego refinished gun.

George M. Purtill 04-08-2016 03:12 PM

That looks like a lotta fun.

wayne goerres 04-08-2016 03:23 PM

That is really a nice gun. I did notice in one of the side views that there seem to be a lot of gold hues in the case coloring.

Beautiful GHE Trap configured gun. What are the stock dimensions Russ? The finish seems to be late Remington as the CC is more fluid as opposed to the DelGreco wavy style. A great find, use it in good health. Jim

Nice gun Russ congrats. I like your forearm much better than the one on my DHE 30 inch trap. Mine is the big flat style it looks like it got run over and squished:eek: you'll have fun with that one.

Phillip Carr 04-08-2016 05:36 PM

Very nice Parker. Love these late model guns.

Russ Jackson 04-08-2016 05:39 PM

Brian ,Thank You for your thoughts ,at first ,I thought the same but after looking it over closely , I just don't think DelGrego ,I spoke with Larry this morning and he doesn't have it as being one of their refinished guns although he says it still could be there are a lot of records ! I am Thinking Remington like Jim although I doubt we can ever really prove it !

charlie cleveland 04-08-2016 06:34 PM

I made that comment based on the comb flute, the cyanide colors and also the buffing line evident on the frame coming off the breech ball.

However, i am sure that due to DelGregos connection to Remington early on, there may have been a lot of late Remington influence on their work hence why these features are also seen on guns refinished by them. I think we can conclude that it is either a late Remington or a Delgrego refinish.

Remington. Nice gun Russ, love those 32" tubes.

Russ Jackson 04-08-2016 07:58 PM

Yes , I would agree , after reading The Parker Story last evening where they are describing their Trap Guns ,this gun is exactly as described except it does not have the Pad and also is too early to be a Rem. made gun ! It is described that Remington's Bluing would have the weep hole when Blued either new or refinished and would be a bit duller Black Color as compared to the shiny Blue Hue of the Parker , Meriden guns had , which this gun has , also refinished or new Trap Guns would have a manual safety as compared to the Automatic safety which this gun has also ! Just giving my opinion , again Remington Records are sparse to say the least but with the 1947 Repair codes I think there is a good chance on Factory work .

Very nice gun Russ, I'll bet it is a great gun to shoot trap with. If I have my Remington repair codes correct KTT3 = May 1948. To me the gun looks too fresh for a factory redo at that time. Trap guns tend to get shot and handled a lot. I believe it was restored much later than that and I suspect Brian is correct.

Nice looking gun.

If Remington refinished it....the gun would had to been sealed up for the past many decades. The refinish looks fairly recent to me.

As for DelGrecko (lol) they save their records by customer name, not SN, so unless you can tell them the name of the person who paid them they cannot tell you if they worked on a given gun.

Russ Jackson 04-09-2016 11:46 AM

Hello Greg ,as mentioned ,I did speak with Larry D. ,I didn't mention I do have a name but this gun was not in the mix ? I appreciate all the opinions ,and you are right it is still in very nice refinished condition but does have some amount of wear ,very minor a touch here and there !

Bill Murphy 04-09-2016 05:24 PM

I like no name refinished guns, especially trap guns. Let me know if I can buy this one.

Rich Anderson 04-10-2016 07:31 PM

I know of a 30 inch vent rib trap gun that will be for sale at the Southern:whistle:

Those borders of the checkering don't appear to be in the Remington style.

The pictures below are examples of known Remington checkering borders.

Double or triple click to enlarge the pics.
