Annual meeting and banquet
 

My sincerest thanks to everyone who was responsible for the wonderful meeting and banquet last night. The food was good, the drinks were fine and The speaker Phil S. was entertaining and imformative. Great job ladies and gents.

I agree Daryl! I enjoyed the evening immensely. The guest speaker was great, quite the story with insight and humor describing what can only be called extreme gun collecting.

I ran into Phil at the gun show today and told him how much I enjoyed his talk. He related a few more stories which were just as interesting as the ones he told last night. That kind of wealth and gun collecting is something that us mortals just can't comprehend. I thought the most telling incident of the Peterson's wealth was the one where they had "misplaced" the 22lb. chunk of gold and his widows reaction to it being found.

Sounds like a great time I wish I could have been a participant. What gun won the people's choice? Pictures?

John Powers from Huston Texas took 1st place with a $200.00 10 gauge. It was one of three guns he displayed for our pleasure. I believe there were about 18 fine old Hammer Guns on display.

What Daryl said... a nice time was had and a great evening put on. I was happy to be able to see all those who attended and meet some new, to me, faces.

Here's John Powers' winning entry... extremely high-original condition $200 Grade Parker. The voting was on the guns' own merits but John's provenance and memorabilia of the 1876 Centennial Exhibition, for which this Parker was made, was extraordinary.

The guns were excellent. A real cross section of grades and gauges and stories. The speaker was excellent. The whole event was great

Since this was the first meeting I have attended, I can only say, wow. What a great group to meet and talk Parker with that have the same passion with these fine shotguns as I. Thanks to all who had a hand in setting up the meeting, dinner, silent auction, awards, and bar. I true special time.

It was good to meet you too, John, and I hope to see you at future meetings.

I met John Powers at the gun show. He is a very informed and interesting collector.

I agree Bill - a very interesting guy... with some very nice guns and ephemera in his collection.

And John, we hope you attend our Annual Meetings and other activities in the future.

I am very sorry I was not able to attend, it sounds like it was a great meeting and a good show. Hopefully next year I will be able to attend.

We missed you Eric, but maybe next year.

Mills thanks for the photos, sorry I missed it but I'm trying to get my left hand back in shape for the Southern (yes I am typing right handed) as I fell on the ice last Feb and fractured a finger, now doing PT three times a week.... :banghead: Can I say it's a real pain in the ass....! (Mods can censor)

Anyway, done with the rant, It looks like it was a great time, thanks for the photos and I really want to see the Bal. show next year, I think this is good location for future meetings IMHO.

Yikes! Hope you get over that completely and soon.

So, what do you guys think about the lighting? I've never been to a gun show with lights like that.

Eric, and all... next year's Annual Meeting will be held in conjunction with the Las Vegas Arms Show - if all goes as planned.

I think that's a great idea, this will allow west coast members to participate . I would love to attend but....who knows that might work.

We have done a LOT of legwork on this. It will work. :smiley7:

Upon my return, certain family members were excited about the prospect of going to Vegas next year.

I have never been to Sin city but have wanted to attend the gun show. What an excuse. I better start saving.........lots of trouble to get into there:whistle:

Yeah, lots of trouble. Like cheap Southwest flights and $39 and $49 hotel rooms until Saturday. My last Winter Vegas trip cost me less than the price of a brake job and I came back with a Super Fox loaded up with color and a great piece of wood that is now on a prewar Midas Browning 32" Trap.
