Newsflash, Addieville Funshoot

PGCA high five man team crushes Fox Team 327 to 309. NH boys made stellar debut for team Parker :) More news at 11.

scott kittredge 05-15-2010 06:51 PM

did i hear you wright, team parker won ? i heard there was a little"bad talk" over on the FOX forum, it didn't seem that hard to out shoot them :rotf:, dave where does that 50.00 go that TEAM PARKER won? scott

Pete Lester 05-15-2010 06:59 PM

Sad as it is, sometimes when a Fox tries to go where it doesn't belong it gets run over and killed.

Ed Blake 05-15-2010 07:37 PM

That little poem on the Fox board was quite the gem. I wonder how those words taste now? Way to go boys.

Didn't see anything dispaqraging on the AHFCA forum at all - they're probably waiting for our little victory celebration on this forum before they decide exactly what to say.

We had a grand day of shooting and comeraderie and had about twenty-eight shooters between both camps. Just a whole bunch of good fun shooting and joking with everybody.

Larry brought venison burgers and dogs, Greg brought salmon filets, Kathy brought a good salad - everybody brought something and we kept being served platters of crab cakes, lobster thermadore, clam cakes and such by the chefs from the 90th birthday party for the original owner of Addieville East Farms that was going on right next to us.

The AHFCA shooters were real gentlemen who displayed the utmost in humility in presenting the $50 "winnin's" to Larry Frey (from who's wallet he paid the bet to the Fox guys last year) as we commenced to prepare lunch.

Definitely one of the very best days I've ever spent at a shooting event.

Third picture is Dave Suponski crushing two birds with one shot.

Fourth picture is Larry Frey at the same station. Deb Frey couldn't attend and we missed her a LOT!!

Last picture is Larry, Greg, Jan, Dean, Kathy, Dawn, Jamie and Dave while Danny Suponski took the picture.

Some of you might like to know that the cookies that Kathy baked especially for this event were enjoyed by all and there were more of them because Rich Anderson wasn't there to steal any.

First and foremost I would like to thank Jack of Addieville Farm East for being a most gracious host. They went way over the top to make us feel welcome along with providing a great ATV for some folks that needed it.Their newly redone sporting course is a thing of beauty and challenging at the same time. They are already planning our return next year and will set the course for SxS specific shooting.I would personally like to thank all that attended this was our best year yet! Pictures to follow...

Dean Romig 05-15-2010 09:05 PM

That's right Dave but without all of your time and effort organizing this annual event none of it would have happened....
so Thank You Dave!

You done good Buddy!

Larry Frey 05-15-2010 09:24 PM

Yes Dave, thanks for once again working to put this shoot together. With the new course and the great weather it was the best event yet. It was nice to see some new faces this year like Pete and Scott from NH and Chris Travinski and his 11 year old neighbor who from all accounts was beating the NH contingent until a late surge helped them pull ahead. It was nice to see this young man come out and have fun shooting a SxS. I hope next year we can get a few more first timers to dust off there Parkers and come shoot with us at Addieville farm.

I would also like to say thanks to Dave for putting the event together, it was the most fun I have had in a long time. It was great meeting Dave, Larry and Dean who I chat with from time to time on the site. I would also like to say thanks to Robin, Pete and Scott from NH, great guys who made us feel like part of the family and gave us some great shooting tips. My neighbor Ezra did shoot great but don't let Scott's modisty fool you, he showed us how it was done! Well done Dave. Thanks guys.

Mark Ouellette 05-16-2010 04:55 AM

Thanks for posting all those great photos. Looking at them made it almost like being there!

Pete Lester 05-16-2010 05:30 AM

Dave, thanks for inviting Scott and I down we had a good time. You did a superb job of herding cats and making it happen. As much fun as it is to revel in the Fox Collectors agony they seemed to be a great bunch and brought a great sense of humor with them. I think it must be pointed that although Team Parker won the war the Fox group won a tactical victory with Paul Plunkett shooting a 71 which took high-gun. Speaking of Team Parker who were the top five shooters? I believe it was Scott (69), myself (66) and Larry (65), but I don't recall the names and score of the other two. In hindsight we should have taken a team picture with all of us having a foot on the chest of the Fox Team captain laying on the ground :rotf:

From the Fox site:

Addieville Fox vs Parker Challenge Results
by TOOL MAN » Sat May 15, 2010 9:31 pm

It is with a contrite heart that I must announce Team Fox's stunning defeat at the hands of the Matrons of Meriden. Final score was Parker 327.....Fox 309. The old adage, that every dog has his day, tragically came to fruition, on the grounds of Addieville East Farm. Despite our best efforts to secure the sacred, $50 bill ( as highly regarded as The Masters' green jacket) it was not meant to be. In a staged ceremony, reminiscent of General Wainwright's surrender to the Japanese at Corrigidor, Fox team captain
Toolman, was humiliated into "forking over" the crisp $50,to Parker co-captain Larry Frey, in what is sure to be the subject of an
11 month,Parker propoganda campaign.

As team captain, I will accept full responsibility for the loss. Unfortunately my own shooting performance ranked somewhere between wussy-pop and pantywad. Hats -off to fellow team member,Foxist, who scored hi-gun of the event, with a brilliant 71.

And if the sting of losing wasn't painful enough, I also had to deal with a wreckless act of vandalism. Upon returning to my vehicle after the match had ended, I was aghast to see a Parker Gun Collectors Assoc. sticker, affixed permanently to my side, rear window!!!! Trust me when I say that window will be removed or the car will be on EBAY by Monday afternoon.

Thanks to my team Fox members for representing our fine organization: Paul and Bill Plunkett, Rob Orris and Tim Kesleski.

To Team Parker, it is with the utmost humility that I tip my hat and congratulate you on your victory. I wouldn't advise depositing that FIFTY in a long-term CD, however. Remember these words, oh Matrons of Meriden, for they are a harbinger of what lies ahead:

"I fear all that we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve...."
